So my first hatch has begun very slowly. #2 just hatched and guess what came out of my silkie eggs?? It doesn't have any feathers on it's neck at all.... Showgirl? Wasn't expecting that!

I originally got onto facebook to keep up with family and a very few close friends. Added a number of silkie folks after Shawnee, and I do enjoy seeing some of what is going on, but there is really too much, and by and large I am not adding any new "friends" (except, as you say, family). So if I don't answer a friend request, or if I deny one, it is not at all personal. just trying to control the volume of stuff that I see. In general, I do not like social networking. I much prefer forums as you can select which discussions to participate in based upon topic.

Maybe they "friended" you because they felt they could learn a lot from you. I know I friended someone for that reason plus I was going to try and get to know the Arizona chick bunch because I am new here and know I need to know more about raising chickens in this climate.

Better to go to the "Where amI/Where are You" Arizona forum.

edited to add: I do emails and forums. On facebook I don't really do much chicken talking (or is that writing?) Better to catch me here, on the club website, on the asbc or housechickens yahoo groups; or drop me an email.

About 40 mins from las cruces, new mexico. Arizona isn't too far from me either! You can't learn much from me but I take good notes from everyone that has given me advice

I've got a page setup for showtime silkies as well but I'm not using it until I actually start showing my beauties but dare I say I have a few good candidates in the works

Mine are day 21 today.

Mine are day 21 and 22. The whites hit day 22 this evening, just waiting.... idk if anymore are gonna hatch but I'm gonna leave them as long as they don't smell rotten. What's the update on yours??

This morning out of 8 I have 1 pip.

We have 6 eggs we purchased from My Pet Chicken CT. It will be 21 days April 6. We are
waiting and will wait a few more days after that.

There are so many people with Silkie Chickens in other areas. We are in central New York and looking forward to meeting people close. I did NOT want to purchase eggs. My husband wanted to try hatching.

Interesting to read this thread. We are NEW with Chickens. Thank for all the informative reading.
