They are super cute and fuzzy!!!!!!
My large fowl don't even recognize my Silkies as chickens. I think, Silkies tend to believe that they are more like alien mini-peacocks, and therefore need some of their own "kind" to hang with.I'm sure there are probably some breeders in your area right here on BYC. Have you posted a "wanted" ad in the Buy-Sell-Trade section?? If you just want a pet quality buddy for Nugget, you could probably find one near you for free, or very cheaply priced. Either that, or you could get yourself an incubator and start hatching your own babies with shipped eggs. BEWARE!! Hatching eggs is VERY ADDICTIVE!!! Ask me how I know....![]()

Josh, If you have two Blues, they did not come from a "Black Silkie pair". Black x Black = 100% Black! One of the birds of your Black pair must be a Blue!My youngsters and a red pullet(I think)
One of the whites, which were ebay eggs, only had a total of 6 toes. Not for breeding for sure. I am getting some white chicks next month. The blues are from my "black silkie pair". They really look charcoal gray in the sun though. So I am not sure what to call them. I really love silkies show type or not. They all have such personality and beauty. This all started because I had a red pullet that was the sweetest bird I have ever seen. She was getting pecked horribly so I had to find her some friends. Got Fred and Wilma from a bird hoarder add on craigslist. They were great together until Ethyl the sweetheart passed early this year. Now I am addicted to there personalities. I see no end in site to my silkie math at Circle U Farm.
yeah i figured that out when they hatched.Josh, If you have two Blues, they did not come from a "Black Silkie pair". Black x Black = 100% Black! One of the birds of your Black pair must be a Blue!![]()
really pretty show girl! I like seeing pics of your roo, he doesn't have a bad angle.
Very cute chicks!! A lot of Blues can look black. Had me fooled-- I have a hen that is Blue but for a couple of months, I thought she was black. But half of her chicks are Splash... big clue in there. ha! This is my BLUE hen. Now I can tell the difference quite easily! If their undercoat is grey and not black all the way thru, you have a Blue.

Quote: ok, I think I am starting to understand the color thing!?!
So would I be correct in saying that my roo with grey on top and white underneath is a grey, not a blue?
Plus, if you can see it, he has 'partridge' like markings on his wings and tail
After our huge rainstorm the other day, he got wet....that was when I realized that he was pure white underneath all that grey
So, do I have a grey partridge? is that possible?
