When she was young, her black faded into grey on her chest and beard. I looked very closely, and there are solid black feathers coming in. It is just old baby fuzz that she is starting to shed off.

I got my silkies today!I got a dark partridge bearded silkie, a buff bearded silkie, and a black beard-less silkie! I love them! I named them Cinnamon, Sugar, and Sissy.![]()

This is Sissy(left) and Sugar(right) battling it out. They've about got the pecking order established now.
I will get some more pictures later.
oh I ambso sorry for your loss. That is just awful.Something just killed one of my pullets in broad daylight. Her head is missing.![]()
I think I've decided to leave my poor little Silkie's fused toes alone since at 2 weeks, s/he's getting around just fine. Also, my Silkies seem pretty skittish. They're hatchery babies and we've had them for 2 weeks (since they were a day old). Every day I feed them by hand but they're still really skittish. Is this normal?

Honestly...they kind of look like silkie mixes to me. I wouldn't call them "ugly" but you are right, they don't look quite silkie perfect. If you can get pictures closer up of each of their faces closer up, that can help determine gender.
The buff in the front left appears to be a roo to me. The others Im not sure of.
