Silkie thread!

When she was young, her black faded into grey on her chest and beard. I looked very closely, and there are solid black feathers coming in. It is just old baby fuzz that she is starting to shed off.

Here are my silkies (9 weeks old today) from McMurrays. It was so hot again today, I had just given them some sweet corn from the fridge. Sorry it is mostly of silkie butts!
Cuteness overload!

Went to an animal auction today and came home with a pair of Blue Silkies...or what I'm hoping are Blue Silkies. They seem a little more gray to me

I've been wanting to add some to our flock for a while. Hubby was probably less than thrilled, ha ha!

I got my silkies today!

I got a dark partridge bearded silkie, a buff bearded silkie, and a black beard-less silkie! I love them! I named them Cinnamon, Sugar, and Sissy.

This is Sissy(left) and Sugar(right) battling it out. They've about got the pecking order established now.

I will get some more pictures later.

Congrats on you new additions!

I think I've decided to leave my poor little Silkie's fused toes alone since at 2 weeks, s/he's getting around just fine. Also, my Silkies seem pretty skittish. They're hatchery babies and we've had them for 2 weeks (since they were a day old). Every day I feed them by hand but they're still really skittish. Is this normal?

We had the same problem. We held them every day. We even broght them in the house and held them on towels while we watched TV. We also fed them treats like dried meal worms. If do this be sure to provide chick grit to aid digestion. They are five months now and we can just walk up to them and just pick them up. When I'm in the yard they follow me around like puppies.

Honestly...they kind of look like silkie mixes to me. I wouldn't call them "ugly" but you are right, they don't look quite silkie perfect. If you can get pictures closer up of each of their faces closer up, that can help determine gender.

The buff in the front left appears to be a roo to me. The others Im not sure of.

I agree about the buff and that black in the back is definatly a mix because the feathers are flat and smooth.
