For the fair that I have told you guys about we will have our chickens judge there. I am having a difficult time figuring out what class our silkie is supposed to be. The class name are: AMERICAN BREEDS, ASIATIC BREEDS, ENGLISH BREEDS, MEDITERRANEAN BREEDS, CONTINENTAL BREEDS FRENCH BREEDS, and ORIENTIAL BREEDS. I am thinling they need to be under french breeds, because in their list of some of the breeds they list Houdans, Crevecoers, Lafleche, and Faverolles. No where on the list of breeds for the classes say anything about a silkie though. I am hoping I am right, but I wanted to see if any one here knows anything about it. Hopefully someone can tell me.

if they are bantams, They would go in the feather legged bantam class. I looked up asiatic class and no silkies.

I just read it in the practical poultry magazine I bought this morning and it listing them as asiatic breed. That they are classed as a large fowl. It's not a large bird & is officially classified in the poultry standards as a "light, soft-feathered" breed. Then in 1993 the bantam version was introduced. So I would still check with someone who raises them as they might have a little more info for you. Hope this helps.

So I guess they are asiatic then. Thanks for the help I really do apperciate it.
