silkies on e-bay?

I completely agree with that. I was one of those types that hated silkies, they are the ugliest birds, and blahblahblah. I ended up getting some for a friend of mine who decided she didn't want them. Then my son saw them. They are now his chickens, and they not only have won me over but they have my dad hooked as well. They are just the sweetest little birds! I haven't shown any birds myself, but for me anyway, it would be nice to at least have some that were drool worthy!

I just hatched out ten BBS silkie chicks from an auction from luv2win or some name like that. The acution was for a dozen and she gave me fifteen. I killed two because I thought the air cell was too big, but they look like they could have made it. A couple were duds or got blood rings. I was absoLUTELY THRILLED to hatch out ten. I was hoping for a trio or better. She is local and I drove to her home and picked tem up, so there was no shipping involved. The auction finished around sixteen dollars. There were about half vaulted skulls, All had five toes except one with four. most had feathers on their middle toes. I ended up with one black, one white, one buff/partridge cross and three blues I think, four splash. I'm not into showing but I am happy with my chicks, except the buff one has light skin too.

they are cute as can be but I am disappointed they are not what I expected.I think I should keep them all till I know what the end result will be. Maybe they will be ok If I put them in with a real nice roo. I know I will never be able to show them but they might be a good project.
