I only have two 3rd gen as adults so far. One is silkied and one smooth feathered. They look more like silkies but I am still a few generations off of really looking like silkies. We'll see how the chicks just hatching turn out.

Do you have pictures of the Blue eggs? I've been thinking about doing that. Silkies are known to have the Shiny/Glossy Egg shell mutation(Mine have them) and I have seen blue eggs with the glossy shell and they look incredible.

Ive never seen glossy silkie eggs. They look the same as my EE and ameraucana. These only have some shine because they were under hens until 3 days ago. Colored vs regular silkie. These arent the best colored of the hens, but that one was broody.

Last four eggs in the bator. I pulled the last eggs because the hens were done sitting. Four others already hatched from the batch. We'll see on these as they are late. Yes I know there is a pip. There are 3 actually but the chicks needed removed and given to the last broody because she was getting restless and ready to quit.

Purple splotched are from when I marked the other chicks that hatched a couple days ago with bluekote on a leg to designate pen they were from until I can band them.

Lighting matters. Dug up some older pictures since most of the birds are broody or molting. I had a Lot of broodies.

Eggs from different hens. I collected for a week to try and get bowl of eggs in the blue.

It was the Henderson chicken egg chart but the only version I can find of it is different from the one I saw years ago. It's also now missing many of the breeds that were on it before, like silkies.
I would be more than happy(actually feel like I won the lottery) if I could get eggs this shiny..
