Aww such a cute picture of the both of you, she is beautiful I love her color! :love

Been a bit of a frustrating day today, people knocking my roosters appearance suggesting he's not worthy of breeding :idunno

Can't please everyone I guess and there will always be people who go against what you do/would do things differently.

Personally I know he's not the 'best quality' out there, he could be better but I do know that he produces lovely chicks regardless of that.

Anyways, 3 eggs under my hen have hatched! :celebrate

Another 5 to go I believe then I can get a good look at them!

Congratulations on the new babies, I hope the other 5 hatch soon! :D

I'm sorry to hear people are knocking your rooster, I think he's adorable and if he throws nice chicks why not breed him?

I haven't got seriously into breeding yet but I want to. It can be a little intimidating to start out, there is a lot to learn and it's difficult for me to evaluate and whey the pros and cons of a lot of my flock since I'm still so inexperienced.

Thankyou I really hope so too! They'll possibly be all hatched in the morning :fl

That's my thoughts exactly. I've hatched some beautiful chicks and I can't wait to show and breed from them next year.

Of course, some chicks hatch 'pet quality'. However, that can happen when breeding any quality bird. It just depends on the genetics that are passed on.

I believe a birds 'appearance' and potential isn't just what you see. It really is what's inside that counts. Physical appearance and features doesn't necessarily mean the offspring will look like that too.

I'm on a very small scale myself, I'm just a hobby breeder and do it for the sheer enjoyment it brings me.

Somewhere down the line I will end up getting a new breeding male but when I'm still happy with chicks he's producing at the moment, I have no reason too.

I warn you though, it gets addictive! :lau

I'm still learning myself, you always are. You're birds look lovely though and I think you have a good starting point with them!

Thank you, I really appreciate the input! When I've got more laying and more mature so they can be evaluated better I will definitely be making a thread asking for advice on where to start and who might be a good pairing. I've researched a lot and I feel like I have an "idea" of what is better or not but hearing what those with experience think seems invaluable.

I've been addicted to hatching any eggs I could get my hands on since I was little. I don't think my parents were thrilled when I found a way to successfully hatch eggs from our chickens in a cardboard box with a low wattage bulb in it. :lau I feel like hobby breeding will really be a good outlet, I'm so happy to be with a husband who supports my hobby!

Aside from typing blue x white each time... What color can I call my sweet girl Sugar? Or is there a way to shorten it?

I've never seen that colour but she's very pretty!

I'd describe her as a creamy tinted silver lavender partridge

I'm not sure her colour has a name but maybe someone else may know.

I've got some blue x whites due to hatch and I really hope some of these beauty's pop out!

It's great your husband supports you and I think that's a great place for you to start with your journey with your birds! :)

Puffy could be a good name.

Oh yea! I was also suggested Mayo :lau
