see? lazy adorable rooster

The little chick that was in the egg above is now out!

Its beak wouldn't get into the right position to get back under the shell and chip away so I gave it a helping hand.

It popped straight out :D

Congratulations on the new babies, I'm glad the little one who got stuck made it out with help! :)

Sorry to hear the two unhatched babies aren't looking good, I've never seen the air cell grow that much in such a short span of time either. :(

I've got my own three survivors from my batch of 15 eggs from a breeder in lockdown now (day 19) One just pipped a couple hours ago, I'm really hoping all three make it! :fl

It's day 3 for the 14 eggs from my own flock, my 3 laying girls were nice enough to lay 6 more in the last two days so I added those as well for a total of 20. So far the 14 who are older are all developing! :celebrate

what colors are they? they have a white mom and black dad, yes they have painted nails

I also think they look the most like partridge chicks. I'm guessing they'll stay pretty dark compared to a regular partridge though based on how they are developing so far (I don't know enough about partridges to guess very well though).

Thankyou, I hope your hatches go smoothly too! It's always a tense time waiting to make sure they're hatching alright

Sadly, the two last eggs didn't make it. I chipped away at the air sack and worked my way around to find fully formed chicks, but no life.

They were squashed into a very very small space but were fully formed but there had been no attempt to pip internally and the chicks actually felt cold to the touch. Their yolk had been absorbed though.

As for what's happened to them I'll probably never know, maybe they just weren't strong enough!

I've still got 7 healthy chicks out of the hatch though :D
