Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Has anyone seen a splash Silkie before? They simply GORGEOUS!! That is my favorite color or Silkie.

I've only seen pictures, never met one personally. I totally agree that they are absolutely gorgeous
I don't have a favorite colour. But somehow kind of a secret wish would be a little cuckoo hen.

Wow, was that scary? I don't think I have the guts for that!

It was actually pretty easy so not really scary, maybe a tad bit awkward though.

It helped that both the cockerel and hen didn't seem to mind, they were pretty laid back about the whole thing.

So the "lost" replacement eggs arrived quite unexpectedly today! Very weird journey they took and now close to 10 days old. 6 have compeltely detached air cells, the other 6 have loose, but likely fixable aircells. They will be handled with care and hopefully some will hatch! This is the last batch of shipped eggs for awhile, too nerve wracking!

So glad they weren't lost too long! I hope the longer trip didn't do to much harm and you get some chicks!

I've got a splash, I agree it's a lovely color! I wouldn't mind a few more splashes in the flock.

My 2 silkies are about 5.5 weeks old now! One is bigger than the other but neither have any comb development, still looking pretty flat. My hopes for 2 girls have increased

Your chicks are so cute. They are like twins! I love your photos, seems to really show their little personalities.

I'm really interested in eating them since I read about the health benefits of black meat and how its really popular in Asian cuisine

That being said, I don't think I would eat the hens, just the roosters.
