Here are some updated pictures of the silkie crew. I believe you all were right and that Branch is a boy. Overall he just looks more masculine then Poppy and Lil Bit. They are more delicate and feminine in appearance. I know I said previously that if there was a male silkie I would not keep it but there was a tragedy this past week where my beloved BCM boy Drumstick was lost to a predator. With Drumsticks loss I find myself in a position to house another boy. Keeping Branch and 2 of Drumsticks sons will put me at 3 boys which I can manage. And to be perfectly honest, Branch is helping me heal over the loss of Drumstick. I've always had a soft spot for Roosters and Drumstick was my baby. I think Branch has sensed how upset I have been the past few days and goes out of his way to be in my lap when I'm outside. This morning he spent over a hour snuggling. At first he was preening both himself and me then decided to flop over and stretch out for a long nap. I can not begin to tell you how much I needed that. I also may be wrong but I'm starting to suspect that maybe Branch and Poppy are bearded, especially Branch. Anyway here are the new pictures. They are now 11 weeks old and starting to look more like a silkie and less like a deformed chicken.

Today we are picking up three black silkie chicks any ideas for names? The blue silkie is delta. She and Charlie are best friends. They are not very tame, but I'm working on them. They are getting lots of treats and cuddles. Even though Charlie is smaller, she is the braver one of the two; Delta follow Charlie around like she is her mom.

They are feathering in nicely.😊
So sorry for the loss of your BCM roo, Drumstick.☹️
Glad you were able to get some comfort from Branch, he sounds like a real sweetheart.🥰
From what I can tell in the photos, looks like you are right about the genders and the bearding.😊

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your boy Drumstick, it sounds like you were very close. 😢 :hugs

That is wonderful little Branch has been so sweet and a comfort during this difficult time.

They've all gotten so big and are looking very cute as always too! It does look like they are bearded to me too or at least partially bearded.

I hope Branch and the two sons of Drumstick you are keeping will be wonderful little roosters for you going forward. 🥰

Aww congratulations on the new additions (or soon to be new additions)! Hopefully someone else has some name ideas as I'm terrible at coming up with names so am no help there (lots of my adult flock still have no names).

Your two older girls are so pretty as well! I hope they'll tame down for you without too much trouble! ☺️

Hi everybody could you please help me identify these silkies colours? The white one should be a Paint but Im not sure?

Chick #1 (Tiny)

Chick #2 ( still doesn't have a name)

Chick #3 (Munchkin)

Thanks!

Chick #2 might be a columbian grey (definitely looks silver based anyway). The columbian grey chicks I've seen vary but some have looked very similar to chick #2. This chick definitely doesn't look like a paint to me given the little bit of eyeliner and the way the color on the wings is coming in (I've seen them get mixed up with paints a lot as the light down with the black is somewhat similar).

I'm really not sure what chick #1 and #3 might turn out like but given that chick #2 may be columbian grey I'm wondering if they might end up sort of buff columbian (pretty much the same as chick #2 but gold based rather than silver). Their down color and pattern does remind me a bit of buff brahma chicks I've seen which are buff columbian. That is my best guess anyway but who knows, chick down can sometimes be very deceiving!
