Actually, looking for them is how i got my chicks!!!!! I knew i wanted house chickens.. didn't really realize bantams were almost as small, but within 5 mins of finding out, i was at the feed store!! I was so so excited! That was an exciting day.you should get some seramas. apparently they make great house pets
are you moving them outside?Im moving to a cooler climate, so itll hit only 100, instead of 120! I'm going to build out a very fancy coop and run.. but hot is hot.. shade only helps so much.
Yes... im going to have someone build out a very fancy coop in a large run, with roof and that is big enough for me to walk In and hang out with them comfortably. Itll be about 2mx3m and 3 m high at the highest point. (Converted that just for you). Propper roof and even shutters, all covered in hardware cloth, and a little door that i can open to let them into their chunnel.are you moving them outside?
She’s red. I got her from Cackle as a sexed pullet. Reason I chose red as it was the only color they had available at the time that I could get that way. Cackle has many different color varieties as straight run.Omg i want one just like that... thats red, right? (Sometimes buff and red look close to me).

Some how messed up your quote there.

I think with a wading pool and lots of shade, they will be ok. I noticed ideal has grey silkies... sounds interestingSame

Hanabi reminds of an Irish Setter, too! Some how messed up your quote there.
I like her!! She reminds me of an Irish setter color!! I think im going to order either a red, red frizzle, or mottled. Maybe a red cochin and a mottled houdan

Ok 8 just isn't enough... i have 4 now.. but i want another cochin, silkie, Easter egger, and polish (unless the polish and houdan are close enough breed wise to be beasties). My d'uccles are together always, so id like everyone to have a bestie of the same breed. I think it makes a difference.
Chicken math is very real! If I had room I would have so many more (current tally is 16, try to keep it 20 or less at all times).

Don't forget to include ventilation in the coop, you need more than you think. You may consider an open coop model in your heat, if your run is completely enclosed and secure.

Let me find a picture.. its 12x6, coop is 4X6 within that space, and about 8.5' tall in the center. Lots of ventilation that can also be shuttered in case of storms. Before they build, im going to have a concrete slab poured too, so i can keep it clean more easily and avoid predators coming up under it. Im really excited. Still a few months out tho.Hanabi reminds of an Irish Setter, too!Chicken math is very real! If I had room I would have so many more (current tally is 16, try to keep it 20 or less at all times).
But it is also good to keep it manageable and give them all the attention they deserve. Some are more pets than others, though they all have names and are equally loved.
