13/16 hatched yesterday and last night, including this little super bearded Polkie chick. 5 Polkies, hatch to order, and 8 Silkies. I'll post group photos later. No blues this go round.
I have been saving hatching eggs, as I had a customer who wanted some. They have since changed their mind, so I plan on placing only Kana's eggs. She is the only one thus far that throws blue chicks with Eko.
I have a dozen of hers currently, though some are a bit past their prime. Will see what happens!🤣🥰
I honestly don’t remember saying I wasn’t going to hatch any more chicks…🤔

Depends on the hens, some can work together and others fight over the chicks.
If you want a broody to raise your incubator chicks then I'd give one broody your incubator eggs and the other can sit on the nest eggs. Then they can raise them together after all hatch if you like (just watch carefully if any issues you'll need to seperate) How many eggs between them now?
There are 4 eggs, but the other ladies keep adding to the pile! I have to keep moving them to find the eggs I don’t want them to have haha. Would it be possible to take a couple eggs at lockdown and put them under the broody ladies for hatch? Or would that disrupt things too much? I have 13 Porcelain d’Uccle eggs, 1 bantam Cochin mix, and 8 Polish eggs. I was thinking about giving them some day old Polish chicks at night time…but having them hatch under the broodies would certainly seem better? So many choices!

I've tried understanding the whole genetics stuff and it's hard!
I luv the duccles! And there's a chance to get porcelain duccle eggs!!!
If I bred him with a porcelain duccle would I have better chances of a porcelain satin result?
Edited to do better pic of him

This is a great question! I’m interested to hear how it can be done! I just love d’Uccles, genetics isn’t a lot for me to learn. and satins in that porcelain would be so pretty! I also saw you tagged on the Fiedler Farms IG! I was like, hey, I know that name! 😁😁

For Porcelain (also called Blue Cream, though there is no blue) in Silkies, you need lavender and buff. From what I understand it takes a few generations.😊
In other breeds wheaten is used in place of buff.
Post your question on Nicalandia‘s thread they are an expert in all things genetics! They have a new thread called “ask Nicalandia anything”.❤️
