First photo shoot on the chicks hatched 3/14 and 3/15.😊
Lots of blues this time! The super fluffy ones I think are Layla’s.🥰
The one little paint I suspect is a “whoops“ egg from Hanabi, my red cochin bantam.
Does not have a beard, only has four toes on each foot and looks just like her in the face! If it grows out smooth wing feathers, then that’s the clincher!🤣View attachment 3026849View attachment 3026850View attachment 3026851View attachment 3026852View attachment 3026853

Ah the cuteness overload!!!

So question...warmer temps but never washed a chicken and would prefer not to....lol
But when I was holding Zoe this evening I noticed wood chips stuffed and stuck UNDERNEATH her wing...she'd been 💩 on! How I have no idea!
I tried to get it out but I think I made it worse by a damp cloth and doing feathers back n forth to try and get it out...it's matted looking now and nowhere near all out. It was still quite "fresh" so will she work at getting it out or what do I need to do?
She's my black laced satin 4 month old.

You can wash her in the bathroom sink for example with warm water and baby shampoo. Just make sure you don’t get any in her face or on her head.😊
Dry gently with a towel and you can also use a blow dryer if it doesn’t freak her out.

Here's my silkie.
She's the cutest bird I own.
Her names Black Devil.
*Bow in her little fro was only there for pictures.

We still have cooler nights n I got granbabies tomorrow...ugh

I never get the greatest pictures of chicks but here is my latest hatch as well. It went really great, 9 eggs set and all 9 hatched no problems. I usually get decent hatches but still lose babies during or at the end of incubation occasionally so getting 100% hatches always feels really good. Only one of the babies from this hatch has a definite vault. I'm wondering if so many being non vaulted helped with them hatching better with no malpositions this time? 🤔

Lots of variety in colors from this pair. I was hoping for a splash baby or two and still not sure if one of the lighter ones might be or if it'll end up recessive white. At least I shouldn't have to wait too long to tell as the wing feathers coming in at 1-2 weeks should give me a pretty good idea. 😁

Hawaii babies!!!
First couple pics are of the little one that had splay legs...doing so well! Thank all yall for your help with the hobble!
The other 2 paints and 1 blue!
All doing well and daughter is wanting them at her house...til one crows lol!
Pretty sure non-vaulted skull paint is a little boy!

They are just precious! I think it is amazing you got such a good hatch with the eggs coming from so far! 😍

Oh they are so pretty! That little one that looks to be Hanabi's I bet will be a real cutie! I wonder how much the red influence from Hanabi will show through as she grows? With trying to introduce red into several colors to work on calico projects I'm always curious. 😂 It's really helpful seeing chick down on a paint x red crossing. I crossed my red partridge girl with a paint male leaking a bit of red in his crest and hackles and they just look like normal paint chicks so far. It's neat how little Hanabi's baby already has a visible difference in down color with the red on her (or his) little face. 🥰

Aww she definitely is a cutie! ❤️
