Well even so, still looks pretty girly to me! If she has not started laying then she should be soon. My birds don’t usually lay until 7-8 months of age.😊
It is not unheard of for some Silkies to not start laying until over a year of age.
cool. Thank you for all the help. The breeder told me about two bones under the vent that move feather apart with hens. So I’ll try that and see

Hi everyone. I know I posted a thread on storing hatching eggs a while back but I have some questions. Someone told me I could store them on my incubator egg turner. So I would just set them there, let it rotate and not do anything else to them? I guess what I need is pictures with a step by step so I know what I'm doing. Thanks in advance!

I store them point end down in egg cartons. My family that don't have chickens give me them after they've used all the eggs from them :D

Would you store them that way for up to two weeks?
I store my hatching eggs for up to 2 weeks, seems to be the cut off for mine anyway. Viability goes down significantly after that time.
Because of my ambient temperature, I keep my hatching eggs in a small fridge used for drinks at its highest setting, which is about 45 degrees. Colder than recommended, but I usually get decent hatch rates.
Store pointy side down in cartons and turn from side to side several times a day. 😊

Personally I wouldn't order from Alabama Silkies. I've had two batches of eggs from them, incubated them myself, and I did not get my moneys worth.😔 The eggs I got were all pretty much infertilized. They have so many reviews on their site saying so many of their chicks hatched but it didn't work for me. And I know I did everything right during the incubation process. Of the ones I got, they are pretty and I love em to death, I just won't order from them again. Just wanted to give you a heads up before you ordered.
I'm not doing business with them anymore. I thought about giving them a second chance. I have done lots of research and I have a community I can rely on for help 😁. In December, before my mother passed away, I called them and asked about a show quality rooster or cockeral and a hen or two. First comment was, "Rooster will be free". Second thing said was "What's your budget".
I said "NEVERMIND".
The man sort-of chuckled and asked me why nevermind. I only said "If I'm calling for show quality, do you think a budget is my concern"? (I was just being rude, I know... I did have a budget - I wasn't telling him though). My first experience with them started out with "What's your budget".
So, I won't he doing any sort business with them anymore.
This is just MY experience with them and to be frank about it, it was my mistake by talking money on the phone before my appointment AND not knowing what I was looking at for show quality.
I'm sure many people have very positive interactions with them. They are still in business, so many many people are pleased with them.

Here’s a photo of one of my pullets that has leakage around her neck coming from her Partridge mama.View attachment 3068438
I have a hen with gold leakage, coming in all over. She is definitely a hen. She had a clutch of 6 black chicks earlier this year.

So with the eggs being point end down, then just twist them in a circular motion three times a day?
