Yes, I did share that story with you once.

Our silkie made no mistakes, she recently weaned them away from her at 6 weeks of age, I care for the chicks to help them along, & they think I'm second mama. They love me so much, they fly onto my arms, & shoulders like little parrots. I'll record it sometime. I even trained them to fly onto my arm on command.

Aw that's cute!

You'll definitely have to try an drew get a video :)

It's great when they're so friendly.

Also, for those of you interested, I've eventually been able to make an instagram!

For months it's not been letting me keep my accounts, constantly deactivating them for literally no reason. Even the staff couldn't explain it

Anyways, I think I've got one working now!

So if anyone is interested in keeping updated with photos of my Silkies (and sometimes other birds) you can check it out @furnfowlsilkies :celebrate

Finally, I do have one Partrige Frizzle I can't wait to figure out where she is dropping her nuggets and get those incubating. She is worth propogating and I see her getting mated.

It isn't worth putting her and my preferred rooster in small cages to accomplish this. We simply prefer them being happy and free vs confined in a breeding pen here. We will learn to spot her eggs instead.

After all we know which of the other 5 layers eggs are by color, however, we added 12 silkie hens in spring and they are just coming in to lay. Today was a 7 silkie egg day. Thank goodness we have a local family who takes in all of our extra eggs. I don't like feeding them to the dogs.

I imagine that is my task for tomorrow. I have a box with 4.5-5 kilos of eggs now. I keep shooting for low productivity hens and missing.
Mission Accomplished I dropped my eggs on their porch on the way to grab my huevos rancheros taco this morning! I have to laugh at this you tube channel:
we don't measure scoville units here in south TX. Things are just hot, hot or really hot here. It is the same with the salsa. My tongue still feels blistered from my breakfast.

I just hate that my show quality craigslist breeder wasn't. At $2/egg I shouldn't whine too much! My wife is happy with them. I don't claim the silkies as my own even though I am out serious money on their enclosure but they do take some great photos.

The Sumatras and OEGB are mine though. I still want to add Malays but the wife is afraid of this breed after my springtime sumatra spurring incident from a 5 pound chicken. Granted, I am not in a hurry to raise them as a 3 foot tall rooster who weighs in at 9 pounds might not be the best free ranger for our property. I am sure they would deal with the winter hawks here just fine once mature, and hopefully leave our dogs alone.
The show Quality Silkie Breeder I get my eggs from is on eBay selling eggs. $35.00 for 6, but more eggs, higher the price.

I don't use Instagram, or any other social site, besides this.

I'll get a video today, I made them a batch of scrambled eggs for added protien. They even fly onto me when they just want to come outside. My sister will have to hold the phone for video taking.

Here are a collection of photos of our "pet quality" silkies who were not smart enough to get out of the rain. They look cute all soaked: IMG_4889.JPG IMG_4890.JPG IMG_4891.JPG IMG_4892.JPG IMG_4893.JPG IMG_4894.JPG IMG_4895.JPG IMG_4896.JPG IMG_4897.JPG IMG_4898.JPG IMG_4899.JPG

All of our chickens like getting soggy, for some reason. Maybe they like taking baths in the rain, is all I can figure.
