Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I've been breeding using only friendly roosters for years now. It's paid off on temperament. I had an unusually friendly hen who passed on that trait to many of her offspring so I took advantage of that. The roosters are all people friendly now.

That's wonderful! I really hope I can breed some of the aggression out eventually. The males I have in a male only pen aren't too bad usually. When they are introduced to the girls they seem to see me as a rival though. I've had some terrific non silkie roosters in the past, I hope eventually I'll be able to get there with my silkie line.

Yes, I know his comb sucks. Broly is a sweety, though, and comes to me for petting when called. He was trying to give that bit of leaf to the girls. One finally did eat it.

I dumped out the water and refilled. Went and did the next pen. She did this in about 5 minutes.

Please ignore his dirty feet. He's a heavy digger and wears his feathers off as well.

Does anyone else have roosters that are basically spurless? Ashes here is 3 years old. Half my silkie roosters don't have any real spurs.

I've yet to keep one long enough to grow much of a set of spurs... Mean roosters sure are yummy, though.
