Post another photo of him when he’s all spiffed up!Thank you! I am finishing up his trim right now.
That would explain it then!It might be crossed with cochin!!![]()
None of those are true, except the dust mop part. But they are adorable dust mops!Silkies get a bad rap for the following:
"Looks like a dust mop"
"Too hard to maintain"
"Poor immune system"
"Dumber than rocks"
"0 predator awareness"
These are all things I find special about my Silkie and maybe share the same qualities! haha
He's a cutie! Not sure about keeping chickens in the house, kinda sad I think that he hasn't experienced the outdoors and doing normal chicken things like pecking for bugs and scratching in grass. I do keep mine inside if sick though... Be sure to post pic of his new hairstyle! -I tied up one of my pullets crest but it only lasted a day so I'll have to trim instead.I got him!
His name is Pewee and he is five months old. I was a bit disappointed because his owner said she got him from a breeder but I am guessing the "breeder" was just a hobby breeder sorta like me. he has a lot of smooth-feathers on his wings and tail. However, he has a very nice crest and a lot of fluff!

He was raised in a house and his three siblings all ended up being boys (what luck!). So it will take a bit of work to get him used to the outdoors. He has never been around girl chickens so I hope he will be polite!
He is SO cuddly and sweet! And he doesn't run away when I put him down, probably because he can't see. I need to trim his crest.
Also, does he have vulture hocks? And if so, is it genetic? (Excuse the dirt on his bum)

Congratulations! The first eggs are always so sweet!Guess what!!!! Not only did Bella my blue silkie lay her FIRST egg today, but miss Daisy the D'uccle was sounding very not happy. So Nala my pretty silkie went in w her and they both laid eggs together!!! I actually watched Nala drop hers, then she scooted hers, Daisy's, and the ceramic eggs underneath herself perfectly!!!![]()
So all 4 of my girls are officially laying!! So happy!! 2 @ 22 weeks and 2 @ 24 weeks!!
Mine LOVE the sofa, and they get their chicken scratch and organic veggies dailyHe's a cutie! Okay, I will! I am giving him a little break at the moment cause he was getting jumpy. I also find it was that he was always kept inside. But he lived a very well cared for life! He's a cutie!
