Thank you! I miss my silkies. So hopefully the big poofy polish crest helps me feel like i have a little silkie soul in the house! (And hope its female!!)
Yeah they even get bigger crests than silkies 😊 Sadly I only know them from pictures, but I read very often they do have very sweet and affectionate personalities - I'm sure you will be very happy with HER (fingers crossed she is a she :fl)!

Thanks for asking. 🥰That is actually Kinoko, though they do look very similar. 🥰

Hikari is doing great. The Fab Four are in their teenage phase and are a little skittish. I expect they will come around in time. Eko is getting bigger of course as well. Little Amai is still acting like a little mama to the others. I found homes for the other two farm chicks, need to downsize so I can keep the cochins.
Should be getting Eko's and Amai's DNA results tomorrow.
Oh I knew there was a chance me muddle up Kinoko and Hikari 😅 ...So it's Hikari with the little white chin 😊
DNA test results are in! Amai is a pullet as suspected. Eko is a cockerel. I suspected as well. Makes it a little more difficult if I want to breed some paints, I would have to get a black hen. Interesting what paint would do with the other colors I have. With that dominant white gene could make some interesting colors I think with interesting leakage.😊View attachment 2631385View attachment 2631386
I would have bet little Amai is a pullet ❤️
Eko looks so strong! I'm sure he will be a beautiful rooster ❤️

Good morning @AngBantamLuv, here are some photos of one of the Cochins. Unfortunately the other one this morning is not looking very good and she moved over to the ICU. I’ll wait with pictures on this one until we know which way it’s going to turn. Lost several more of the chicks unfortunately.
Cackle does give extras which offsets some of this. The first 24 hours are brutal!
Anyway, this little one is very active and healthy and was very difficult to get a photo as she moves constantly.
These are all photos of the same bird, different angles.😊 Thanks!View attachment 2631396View attachment 2631397View attachment 2631398View attachment 2631402
I'm so sorry you lost some of your newly arrived babies 😞 And I'm sorry your second cochin chick is struggeling - I hope she will feel better soon 🙏
The baby in the pictures is so cute ❤️

Hard to believe my Silkies are now 7 weeks old! I need to get some new pictures... I've been super busy the past month and haven't spent much time holding them. I'm trying to fix that since they get really freaked out if you pick them up. I want them to be TAME and friendly enough that a child could pick them up. They are settling into their colors. I ended up with 2 Lavender Splash, 2 Buff (one dark, one a very light cream buff), 2 black, and 3 white, although one white is more yellow than white.

I do have a question about the black ones. I thought I saw something on a site somewhere that there are no "true black" Silkies? I'm wondering what that means? Two of my Silkies have black feathers. One of them has dark, black "fluff." The other has more like a very dark charcoal grey "fluff," but also has ONE toe with white feathers/fluff. How might these different from a "true blue" Silkie?

Lastly, I moved the 8 chicks that I hatched at Easter into the Silkie house because they needed more room (outgrew the brooder, but too small for the main coop). The Silkies bullied them at first but they all appear to get along fine now. There's 6 CCLB and 2 EE/Blue Andalusian mix. I'm trying to decide how long to leave them in the Silkie flock before moving them into the main coop... They are 3 weeks old this weekend and not fully feathered yet. Might give them another 3 weeks or so before moving them.
I'm also looking forward to see pictures :D 😍

Thank you so much for your kind words! I do appreciate it. ❤️
Yes, Hikari still has a bit of white on her face. Hard to see it though now.😊
Ended up losing 12 out of the 28 chicks that arrived. I’m sure it’s the extra day it took them to get to Hawaii. Last year it took a day less for chicks to get here. Anyway, all of the survivors have gone to their new homes except the one remaining cochin that I have. Her name is Hanabi which is Japanese for fireworks but directly translates to fire flower.
Since she was the only chick left I put her with Amai and Eko. The other two farm chicks have gone to new homes. I was a little concerned as Hanabi is so tiny compared to them. Amai took her under her wing, literally, and she fit right into her new little family. Amai really is an exceptional little pullet.🥰

So my little Sindbad yesterday got a rose-red comb. Not over night - over day. In the morning it still looked grey-green as always. In the evening I discovered a pinkish comb/comb area - - first second I thought he got somehow injured, but then I took a better look 😂 He is exactly three weeks old now.
Wow, that was fast! You thought he was a boy though right? Would love to see new photos of your little guys.❤️
How are Maku and Poupette doing? How are they feathering out?😊

3 of my pullets are 5 months, 2 weeks old now and it looks like at least 1 is laying! I had an egg under the roost this morning and that usually happens when they start laying and it was right under the spot where the pullets were. We're in Autumn here in Australia so daylight hours are getting shorter so I wasn't expecting them to start till daylight increases again. It will be interesting to see if they continue laying through Winter. I did have one hen last year that did!

Oh no - I'm so sorry you lost 12 little ones, that's so sad :hugs
What a beautiful name for your sweet tiny cochin 🥰
Wow I'm so proud of your little Amai! She really is special 💖

Yes and he is the one 'crowing' since several days 😂
Ok I will take some new pictures tomorrow.
Maku and Poupette are doing fine, thank you for asking❤️ Maku has grown a lot, Poupette is still the smallest (she is the youngest) - together with Herzchen (the first one hatching!). I will take pictures of Maku and Poupette.
