I dry incubate. You need to have a good incubator. It depends very much on the ambient humidity in your area. Living in Hawaii, it is high here. When I incubate the humidity runs anywhere from 25-45% in the incubator. You do not want it to go much lower than 25%. The humidity is usually at least 60% in the house.
Best to test run your incubator for a few days and monitor the humidity to see what you get. Make sure to have independent hygrometers as well.
I add water when I see the first internal pip or at DAY 19, whichever comes first. I usually stop turning at DAY 17.
This method works for me in my environment. 😊
What humidity at lockdown? I'm afraid of drowning them.

Little Bambina is quite the firecracker! She is still tiny, even compared to the d'Uccles, but if anyone messes w her, forget chest bumps, she does a ninja fly kick to the face!!! Gets them running away from her 🥷🐤

Just refilled water, and it is hot, but I NEED to get pics of her for you guys.. her markings are just beautiful and she is so super fluffy! I will try in a little bit, if I stop melting.

Can’t wait to see new photos of her! 😍Sounds like she’s going to be a tiny girl also as an adult. I have two girls like that, they weigh about 1.7 lbs each. The rest of my hens are just over 2 pounds.😊

Ok.. now you have me wondering. I specifically bought a scale so I could weigh JUST HER! I will go into the outside oven.. brb...

1 lb 5 oz, 606g !! At 20 weeks 🤯

So shes super bright white, but she isn't happy to be held, so we are in the shade to keep her calm... she doesn't normally stand so tall either, but her and Barney were screaming bloody murder for each other.

Hey silkie lovers. I have a question.

Have any of you had a silkie that just stopped growing around 3-4 weeks?

I have 3 7-week old silkies and 1 (the one in my profile pic) is now much smaller than her hatchmates. She seems to eat and drink as much as the others. Actually, I think she eats more. She gets around fine. She loves to be in my lap.

I am worried something is wrong though. She is like 1/3 the size of the other 2. Her feathers seem to be developing at the same time as the other two. She actually has purple-blue earlobes already, whereas the others don't.

Will she just be small? Or do you think there is something wrong that will shorten her lifespan?

It sounds just like my little Bambina! I just posted her size and pics right before your post. She was teenie as a chick and although she has grown, she is still a fraction of the normal size. She is just fine healthwise, so i think she's just petite!
