Ditto luving the Satins!!! The floof of a Silkie with detailed feathering you can see better!!!

Vaulted skull...how I was told, is like a baby's soft spot on top of their head only with a chick is sticks out rather than sinking inward. It is very important the chicks not get hit on their head or it could be fatal....makes for difficult hatches sometimes, etc.
I like a vaulted skull because it gives that added floof on top with their crest!
Heres couple pics of the 3 above from hatch and few days old.

This one does NOT have a vaulted skull.View attachment 3229388
Owww... That just hatched one is just so irresistibly super cute!! 😍

Help! I started thread but no replies! Any ideas? - yellow and blood from hens bottom .. I can post pics but it's horrible looking! I have her separated with food and vitamin water.
Hopefully someone knowledgeable will respond soon...I've never had a grown one with problems before.
I hope she's gonna be ok though!

Oh boy. And I really mean that! I think I have a bunch of roosters in my flock of Silkies. View attachment 3229998View attachment 3230000View attachment 3230001View attachment 3230002View attachment 3230003View attachment 3230004View attachment 3230005
Super curious about the last chicken pictures. It’s the sweetest of the group and is always the first to jump on my lap. It’s crest is wet here. Usually it’s very fluffy. Does that look like a roo??
And the two white ones, I’m guessing those would be paint not splash, right?

Yes the two whites with black spots definitely look paint. 🥰

The shots showing a side view of the crest should help a lot but for now I'd say the last chicken pictured is looking more girly. So far a very small comb and while boys can have a fuller crest like that too I get it more often in the girls. From the pictures it looks to me like you've definitely got some girls as well as some boys. How old are they? With the satins (smooth feathered rather than silkied) hackle and saddle feathers will look different in boys vs girls too so they can be a bit easier to sex than the silkie feathered ones. ☺️

They sure are pretty little ones! ❤️

Oh, thank you for this! I will get the side pictures today. That last one is just such a sweetie pie.
They are 10-13 weeks old. I've only ever had adult Silkies in the past. I'm surprised at how slowly they grow compared to other breeds.

I got some side profiles. I know I missed someone, but I'm not sure who. lol
I know the first one is a little dude. He is the oldest and he's looking pretty rough right now.
