Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

I have heard that they are spectacular in some Asian dishes.

8/6/24 I hatched a couple of paints. I even took pictures of their feet, which were both equally mottled black/white.

The one on the right had fainter dots than the other, but clearly three paint spots when it was hatched.



The one on the left.




The one on the right, turned completely white.


Is it possible this one could be a dominant white? I know I need one of those to breed with my black rooster, so wishful thinking here. I am assuming it's still a paint, just not showing it? Is that possible?

I already have a pair of nice whites, so I don't need another unless there's a chance it's a dominant one.

He's the broody magician.. beware. I've got so many hens broody now it's not funny.. Besides, he's pulling your leg(s)

From the genetics charts I have seen Black x White gives you paints too.

I did have that explained to me by a Hmong lady that came out to get some perennial plants. A couple of years prior, I posted 5 roosters on Craig's List. A pair of Asian guys came to get them, saying they needed pretty ones, which they were. Uh-huh!

She explained though that there are concentrations of Asians/Hmong like areas about 40 miles from here with tons of tents where hundreds of them live. They challenge each other who can breed the prettiest chickens. She also explained they do consider their meat an Asian treat and it goes back to some Emporer. I didn't care to learn more.

Yes, but the white has to be dominant white. If not, black and white will make blacks and whites.

It's not too bad in Southern Alabama, we have some really cold cold snaps, then it's back to 40-50's. I think it's the daylight hours they go by. I've got two hens hatching and 2 more that just went broody in the last few days. Bok Bok.

It's almost 80s here in Texas! Yeah I'm still getting broodies.
