It's almost 80s here in Texas! Yeah I'm still getting broodies. 😆
We are too. We were just talking about that somewhere else as another person from Wisconsin has the issue too. Ooodles of feathers in the snow looks cool, but it's weird to be molting this late.

It's not too bad in Southern Alabama, we have some really cold cold snaps, then it's back to 40-50's. I think it's the daylight hours they go by. I've got two hens hatching and 2 more that just went broody in the last few days. Bok Bok.
Ah, makes sense, my friend actually had her chicken be broody. Its cold here! She hatched out a chick somehow. (Doing pretty good)

I have a question about the blue earlobe, are they unique to Silkies? I just noticed my bearded Polish when preening (and her feathers had moved), has a light blue earlobe too. Does this mean there could be some Silkie in her genetics? There was no Polish specific thread so I thought I'd ask here first, I've attached a picture of her, (named PomPom).

Also here's a pic of Cinnamon, my Silkie cockerel. He's a terrible food thief, but I love the fluffy little bugger so much.

Polish should have white earlobes. Silkies are often crossed with polish.

I've only ever seen easter eggers have kind of bluish earlobes besides the bright teal that silkies have.

That rather looks like a satin, not a polish from that picture. Full body picture would help

Oh really? She was sold to me as a Polish chick, though from a pet produce store so not totally reliable. Here's some full body shots.

The other breed that should have blueish ear lobes is Spitzhauben. I think it's even in the standard for them.
