Ours are backwards of yours; our rooster is the silkie (who looks black, teal sheen on top but he's blue/white underneath) and the first momma hen was the black rosecomb. Their first batch was all blues:

This one, Marvin, was the snuggliest of all, so I made sure he went to a hobby farm with kids and his own opportunity to raise a batch of chickies just for himself!

This one is probably the momma of my splashes, she mated back to her dad, so her blue and his blue begot the splash:

So I've heard chicken math disease is waaay too easy with Silkies around, as the sweet disposition leads one to think, "hmmmm, they're so nice, wonder if I can get more........." but the rosecomb rooster's tail, what I call "doopy uppity" combined with the Silkie's softness always made a luxuriously nice lap chicken to pet. BUT the rosecombs are the loudest crowers on this green earth.

I have raised Orps, Aussies, Sussex, Turkens and now I only raise silkies. They are the best breed for me. My kids can handle them quite well without me worrying about them getting attacked. With that, there are a few silkies out there with some aggressive behaviors.

Over the last 3 years, I have spent way tooooo much money on silkies

I'm sorry your guy is such a stinker. I would hold him more and make him like it

I have one right now and he is a stinker too. Ornery little cuss he is.

Yeah i hold him 3 or 4 times a day. plus when he charges me in his run i spray him with a water bottle.

I've got a pair of silkie females, and a breeding pair of silkie crosses. Their sole reason for being here- is a natural, cheap incubator...

They can't get let out to range, but must stay penned at all times..

I am in the market for a pure silkie male to cover my hens, and I'd get rid of the cross male bird...

Gosh yes! They crow as loudly for their size as my little Lhasa Apso barks, and he has a BIG bark! And the Black Rosecombs have such gorgeous feathers; mine have the green sheen all over their bodies as well as their tails.

Silkies do indeed make it easy to use Chicken Math. Folks around this area are already wanting chicks for Spring and for Easter. A nice thing is that you don't have to use coloring on them; they are plenty colorful on their own!
