Silly broodies

I just candled my eggs at day 15. Out of 6, 5 had little chicks! I ordered these eggs off ebay, so I was a little nervous about them. Now I can hardly wait until day 21! They're Cochin Banties, mixed colors. Can't wait to see what colors come out.

Had to toss 2 eggs under my broody, both from my Black Orpington pullet, just weren't fertilized somehow. Anyway, I have one Blue Orp and five Barred Rocks...and thank goodness, someone wants to buy them when they hatch. I'm not thrilled with brooding anymore babies this year. So, let's hope the rest wait till spring to go broody.

Well, I'm wishing everyone luck with their broodies. My second broody should hatch hers out soon (I'm embarrassed to say that I have forgotten when I put those eggs under her

--I usually mark the date on the calendar or the eggs themselves, but this time I just had too much going on and forgot--anyway, the second batch of babies should be here any day now). She's still got 5 eggs.

Sounds like me!! I would have sworn that I marked mine on the calendar, but I can't find it ANYWHERE!!! I know she should be any day though. She might have some now, I forgot to check!!! :o

My cochin/jap hen went broody on me about a week ago. She is sitting on 4 serama eggs now with 6+ more on the way from eggbid!!! I have lost my chicken loving mind! Now im gonna end up with god knows how many seramas in the house over winter Ugh!

hahhahaa here are my 3 silkies who THOUGHT they were broody lol but i put stuff in their nests and theyre scared of em lol so theyre no longer broodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY I FINALLY DID IT!!!!

Now that is funny, Chickenaddict! But I don't blame you one bit. Nothing cheers a dreary winter day like baby chicks

Your right i love my fuzzy butts a little tooo much i think lol. Gosh im such a push over, those hens got my number for sure.... Off to build another chickenhaus

Well, folks, as of today, I have four more baby banties and one last egg pipped under my second broody (pics forthcoming). That leaves my last broody with the four eggs yet to hatch. I also have another hen acting clucky. I don't think I'll let her sit, though, because for the first time today I felt a chill in the air and noticed some leaves beginning to fall. Unless I'm brooding them myself indoors, I'm not big on hatching babies in cold weather. So, I think I may break this last one up (maybe
