Silly chickens!

Okay, so I will sit for 30 minutes and shred old bread into tiny pieces so the chickens won't have trouble swallowing it.

I just watched our old bantam hen, Chrissie (about 8 years old), running around the yard with 3 other girls right on her tail. She had a frog in her mouth, legs sticking straight out sideways about 2 inches from either side of her mouth. One of the girls got close enough to get a leg. Chrissie finally got away, slammed the frog on the ground once, picked it up and swallowed it whole!

We'll see if I ever worry about choking them with bread again!

I know, this is useless without a picture, but it happened too fast to grab the camera.
Wow! I can't imagine what that must have been like to see! I know our house chicken, Maxine, keeps a close eye on our hamster! :)

Well, I suggest that you give Maxine a heads-up to be on the lookout for this weird looking thing with a sharp beak!!!

It's amazing what those gizzards w/grit can grind up, isn't it? One of my barred rocks ate a salamander once. Then...a speckled sussex ate a green anole.

Hahaha yeah chickens are funny sometimes! My chickens eat frogs if they see them.
My rooster named silly one time ate a mouse! I pulled up a board and a mouse ran out, he caught it quick as a cat and swallowed it fast! It was the funniest site;):lau

And my other roo named Biggs Chick eats rubber bands!

Crazy, huh?
I have always found it funny when our chickens play "Chicken Football" with a field mouse or a frog. One grabs it, takes off running and the rest go to tackle her!! When we free ranged, we never had to worry about the mice coming in out of the field. We even saw fewer lizards around.
