Thanks so much. Zane has alot of interest in life, he's cheerful, funny, crows his heart out when he's feeling good, alarms for the flock, etc. Sometimes, I think I'm being very selfish, trying to keep him with me in his condition, but when his daddy, Hawkeye, died suddenly, he was the only rooster I had for the laying flock and right after that, he got hurt. I had eggs from Hawkeye and did hatch Zane's brothers, Dutch and Mace, and his sisters, Zoe and Margaret, but at the time, I had no way of knowing if they would hatch. Thought he might be all I had left of my Hawkeye.
Zane means so much to us and we happily take care of him, try to keep him entertained, etc. When and if he loses interest in life and becomes depressed, or if he develops another hock infection, we will reluctantly let him go.
