silver laced cochin bantams

Males can mature at different rates. One thing about it...males almost always reach sexual maturity before the females do. If it were a female, it wouldn't have the pointed feathers on it's back and it would look more like the female in your "trio."

Yeah, out of my four silver laced cochin boys, the combs developed at all different times even though they were the same age. In fact one of the cochin boys was always about half the size and just took longer to mature.

Well, it may be the case but don't give up on them yet. Your "two roos" look vastly different and I think the questionable bird looks more like your hen and has a nice poofy tail with no green. I'd keep a close eye but, again, I am pretty confident

At least you got one hen, if that is the case. I heard a sad story earlier about a fellow that purchased 6 french black coppers (1 roo and 5 hens) and wound up with ALL ROOS!!!! and they ain't cheap!

yea....you should have seen them today...i was havin the time of my life!! i lease 60 acres and thats where all my livestock is (horses, cattle and chickens)...not here at home....anywho i decided to take them home with me today to clean up the garden and rome around in the backyard (theyre the friendliest ones outta the 12 i have). well i put them in a water bucket and the would jump on the edge of the water bucket (all three of them) and my trucks lifted so they had nice view! lol

they were just chillin lol....then after they got sick of trying to keep balance over the bumps and rail road tracks they decided that they ALL wanted to be in my lap...and there was no keep them in the bucket once they discovered how easy it was to get out! didnt bother me any. but then little pablo decided he wanted to hitch a ride on my gas pedal foot lol and then when miss laci noticed him she thought it looked like a great idea! we were in a looonnngg line at a stop sign so no biggy. But, I swear the people behind me didnt know what to think when my head would go down and disappear and the i come up with a flapping chicken and throw it in the bucket and then again and again.

then they realized it was just easier to stay in the bucket after that! i had to tell you cuz even i was crackin up the whole dang time!!!

awe.....cochins are the sweetest. When I let mine out they waddle after me...

and I can walk right over and nab them. Im sure they loved the field trip. I worry a lot about hawks with these guys because they're so slow

They'd be easy pickins. I've never seen one where I am. I believe it's because of this high traffic area but I still worry when I let them out.

yes....i almost didnt want to bring them because i didnt want to make them nervous by moving them, but then I asked myself, "Why do I have chickens if I can't do what I want with them?" Do they came lol.......and theyre having a ball, theyre in my brooder and theyre getting spoiled grazing in the backyard and coming in where its warm at night and getting cooked eggs and smashed shells.....im almost considering letting them live here because theyre so quiet.

LOL. I am impressed by the lacing on the female though! She should become lighter as she ages, but still fairly good lacing on her!
