Here's mine, with the occupants enjoying some freedom.

The window supports are made from bimini boat supports. I have 4 different lengths of 5/8 dowels, depending on how much I want the windows open.

I am not totally giving up on a bigger coop. Some serious family dynamics prevented it from happening so this is what I did to get us through. I have 2 Buff Orpington hens, a Silver Laced Wyandotte hen, an Easter Egger hen, and 2 Barred Rock about to be hens (in 12 more days). And I have 1 accidental rooster, Roopecca, a Lavender Orpington. Despite my many newbie mistakes they thrive and seem happy. Does this mean mistakes don't matter and so go on, do it whatever way you think works? No. It means I've utilized all the advice and knowledge that I have gleaned from this site to the best of my current capacity. Note...I'm not done.;)
Here's my coop and how it came to be what it is today.
I did say I'm not done.:gig

I like your window supports! I may need to order some of those.

I ordered them from walmart.com, ship to store free. Cheapest price I found, I use same ones on my boat bimini, they hold up well. I replaced the set screw that would hold the dowel in with a thumb screw, to make it easier to change dowels(no tools needed). When using these, there is no worry about wind blowing your window closed, like using a piece of wood. That's what I Originally had.

Squirrels bounce on my windows and knock them shut.
:hmm

I have trees planted at the back fence and the Windows are WAY to fun to use as a springboard.

Thanks for the info on the thumb screws too. :p
