I can't tell if this is a pullet or roo, my first single comb silkie. The comb is v shaped, but all the single comb silkie pictures I can find lol v shaped. I can't tell if those are streamers on the crest or not. Any ideas? She/ he is 8 weeks old today.

I have a single comb silkie who is just over 3 weeks maybe close to 4 and he’s definitely a boy, so I lean pullet but I know traditionally silkies are tough.

Ooookkkk... so basically they grow like other single comb chicks!! That actually makes me think pullet also because it's not raised at all, but my other chicks with single combs, I can tell fairly early on. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I should add, she's very "motherly" to the two younger chicks I have with her, but I want going to go off of that alone because I had an ameraucana cockerel that was very sweet to babies also.

I’m my limited experience with silkies, yes he’s developing much like my other single combed cockerel did! 🤞 for you!!

my little dude is SO SWEET to the two tiny babies we have in with him. He’s very gentle with them and concerned about them. this is him with them just under him.. I hope it continues as his personality into the future .. but I know hormones will kick in.

I’m so torn if I should keep him or not. I have a naked neck cockerel that is beautiful that I planned on keeping.. so I would have to build a whole new coop and run if I kept him.. but his personality so far is amazing 😍.

It's such a hard decision!! But if you have enough hens, you can keep two roos, just gives you an excuse to get more hens 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😁😁
