I checked the ten day weather forecast this morning and spring is still a dream.

I can see splotches of the lawn already!

I'm hoping for a broody, we've only got three layers left, and out of our four 8 week olds, two are definite cockerels, and with the two others I'd say I'm leaning 70% cockerel at the moment. I'd like to hatch out some of our Sussex roo over OE mutt eggs. Might make for some lovely greens.

Hahaha! This is how I feel! We are iced in and I woke up to my young cockrel at the doorstep waiting for snacks. He's never escaped before lol time for a lid on the brooder! He was rewarded for his naughty efforts with some country fried steak haha!

Yep. -15 and chix are 2nd on list for tending(and i'm not 1st!).Furnace hasn't worked for weeks and it was 32 in the kitchen!! Hauled in water buckets last night and they melted just enough to throw out the ice in yard then fill,haul.I will TRY to remember this when I want more chicks!By the time everyone is fed,watered coffee is done TY Lord!
