Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I think Alaskan is influencing flock migrations as well. We have lived in our current house for six years and we have had geese that have stopped over in other parts of town but never had any stay on our pond ----- until right now.

Normally I enjoy seeing them but with the AI it makes me very uncomfortable. They are not near the coop but they keep waddling closer. I went out and yelled and chased a pair just a little bit ago making them turn away.

I hate running off wildlife, but what to do.

Have you thought about inviting them to dinner as the "guest" of honor?

Not squeamish. I am prior military and have been through survival school, used to hunt with my dad as a kid. Now a days, I just don't like to deal with the mess. Now my kids on the other hand would not touch it if they knew. They are the squeamish ones. I suppose I have perpetuated that with them. I don't see either one of them ever living off the land unless the apocalypse actually came. Then things would be different.

Different from most lady's I know. Kudos!! My sisters and I grew up on a farm with cows, pigs and chickens. The butchering was done by everyone, but my sisters. They couldn't survive without a Starbucks or Sheetz. They think I'm nutso for having a greenhouse in my basement to grow veggies in the winter. I might be nusto, but for other reasons.

Probably from being prior military and an ex-survival instructor. Shame not many people wanna know how good roast grubs are.

Yeah, there are lots of things I know how to do but prefer not to do. As long as I can afford to stop by the grocery and pick up my protein ready to cook, I'll take that route. On the other hand, doctoring chickens (bumble foot, prolapse, etc.) I do myself. I also get to cull because they are my birds and if they are suffering, they are my responsibility. But they all have names so none of them will ever end up on the table, unless the zombies come and then well be brooding birds in the house. ;):gig

Ok.. I can't seem to understand why some people think zombies would do things that is shown in movies. Zombies are supposedly reanimated DEAD. Last I checked, dead don't need to eat and if they did eat they'd fill up fairly quickly cos they can't cr**. Dead also means that the heart has stopped so all blood would pool in their lower extremities. So how can they spurt blood if someone hacks off their head or arm or shoots them anywhere above the navel (same goes for vampires)? Dead also means no breathing, no breathing means they can't moan or say "brains". Dead means no sight or hearing, so how could they possibly find "prey"? I'm not from Missouri, but I won't believe in boogiemen until I see one.

that is the fun of talking about the zombie apocalypse. It is pure fiction, so it isn't actually scary.

But, that way we can explain why we like to be self sufficient without naming the actual true scary things that could happen, and that we are actually scared of.
