Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I am in the same boat... coffee and the internet...

Some bruises and scrapes NO biggie... Been dragged further by horses By a foot. I was a bit hyper vigilant for about two years afterward.... I should have let go of the purse.... No THING is worth your heath or life...

People ask me why I dont lock my doors... I have only two rooms in the house that dont have an exit to the outside... I think of it that way. I am like a cat in the house knowing where every foot step is generated. If its night time I can see even in just starlight.

The deal is If someone broke in to steal something they wouldnt know what to take that works. It would be far cheaper to steal an applience than to have someone come up and replace a window or door. If they are coming in for food.... they eaither need it or know someone who needs it.

if they came in to vandalize I am heading out the exit to the pump house where I have phone access....

I am too fat to worry about being violated.... I can act pretty crazy as well.

But you know? when I am up there I feel loved and watched and protected... I dont know why.

Call it mysticism or what ever... I do believe in God but am agnostic with regard to religion...

When I bought the place it was being run by a church. A ministry that I believe is Baptist in origin but it was called or is called Set Free Ministries. It was a place for women coming out of prison to get back on their feet or women coming off drugs to be in a supportive albeit a very structured environment.

To a one every woman I had a chance to talked to they said the place was blessed... Every one I met was sad to go.... Even when the minister chastised them for talking to me.... they scurried away to do some work they were assigned.

He was afraid they would sour the deal.... The church had been trying to sell the place for over a year. They had mentioned issues with the well. I chocked it up to the fact that they had 21 women living in a one bedroom one bath house.... I still have their schedule fastened to the Green house wall. Every five minutes of their lives was accounted for. And the Minister was an ex skin head.... His wife had the only room that had a lock on the door. She was the one that oversaw day to day life there.

The trouble with the well and septic was two fold. First and foremost there really isnt enough water for more than a family of three. The capacity of the septic is about the same.

But once I ferreted out the issues I realized they were things i could fix... for instance when the water table went low enough on two occasions the pump saver switch would go off... and that was good... But once it went off it would not come back on for fifteen days.... don't know why... I learned not to run the water for longer than twenty minutes at a time.

Six months later the booster pump on the big water tank stopped working completely.... again no water to my horse... I called in Frank Thing well company and they replaced the booster pump. As well as diagnosing the pump saver switch... It was worn out so they replaced it.

Viola I can run the pump as long as needed the switch will shut the pump off and come back on when the water level in the well recovers. takes about fifteen minutes... but the well itself takes about an hour to completely refill. So I am still careful and keep all the animals on automatic fill valves. No one water source will run for ever.... without my permission.

The septic works fine if you dont put paper down the toilet... Diagnoses.... the septic line has a low place where "stuff" accumulates... I can live with that as well.

You sound like a guy I knew that owned a nursery. One winter night, someone slit the side of his main greenhouse to go in and steal the cashbox inside. He was livid! It was a small operation; there wasn't that much in the box and pretty much everyone in the neighborhood would have known that (particularly at that time of year). But that UV-stabilized greenhouse film is expensive, and the gap in it caused the heater to run constantly all night, which burned up a whole tank of propane. Because of the lack of pressure, the double wall collapsed together; even with the heater running, there was freeze damage to plants at the furthest end of the house from the heater. The door to the house wasn't locked (shoot, there wasn't any way to lock it); that moron cost my friend several hundred dollars' worth of damage breaking in to get to a cashbox he could have simply walked in and taken!

cash? His nursery produced cash?

I have heard rumors that that was the point of it all, but...

Well, he dabbled in a lot of things, including the occasional retail sale (which is why the cashbox was there, and why he though it was a neighbor that took it - only a "customer" would have known there was a cash box to take, and which structure it would be in).

But yeah, that place mostly seemed to exist on wishful thinking.

Reminds me of something I heard once . . . .An old farmer died, and when they did an autopsy, do you know what they found? He was absolutely chock-full of "nextyears."
