Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Good Morning 3goodeggs! How is your coffee today?

My coffee was full of grounds. I tried to read my fortune but I hadn't had enough coffee yet, so I just drank them.
I don't understand why this has started. Nothing has changed, not the coffee or the grind, or the filter or the pot... or the man that makes it.

I feel badly you all are swimming when we need rain so badly.
My grandmother used to say, 'When the ants start moving, a hurricane is on it's way.'

My ants moved from the cinder block walls to under my bathroom sink.

so I killed-ith them. That ought to keep the hurricanes away!
Unfortunately it sent you all our precipitation.

Howdy Everyone! Thanks for having me, looking forward to being here on BYC and reading this thread

Anyone else on here like me and got waaaaaaay to carried away with buying chicks when just starting out?! Lol I have 24 chicks, and 9 eggs about to go on lockdown this weekend! Ohh and I don't have a coop built yet

but my hubby assures me he will help me get it done on his 2 week leave coming up next week

been looking at all the large coops posted on here for inspiration

I'm a bit nervous to say the least, but happy to get my chickens grown and get some eggs for our family of 6, and the neighbors

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention I got 2 dozen eggs arriving today!!!!

LOL..... Depending on how many you want to keep remember.... that coop needs to have at least four square feet per chicken... and enough roost space for one foot per bird... one nest box per five to ten hens.... some hens hve a fav that they ALL lay in.

I dont know how mild your climate is but it doesnt have to be too fancy or complex. Just make sure you use hardware cloth rather than chicken wire on any opening that is toward the outside.

Haha oh this is the best thread I've come across in all my 4 days or so of BYC life! We are actually military and just moved to NC late last year. I love it here. Originally from CA, but I don't mind if we live out here permanently :) never would have been able to buy this house out there in CA, thats for sure lol! We've lived in Texas and Florida but I love NC the best. We are here for a good 6 years if not more and that's why we decided to buy and finally get our chickens. Told the hubby if he has to move he better plan on taking my chickens with us!!

we are planning a 12x12 coop (maybe I can talk him into a 12x16) and then a 12x24 attracted run. I'd love to let them free range but I got 2 huskies and GS that would love that idea even better :smack darn dogs! Haha it's a love hate relationship hahaha my husband and I have never built anything like this before so it will be interesting, I'll have to keep yalll posted... Unless it's a complete disaster in which case I will quietly excuse myself from BYC haha it looks good in my head though!

Ants... We are getting them inside but the kids love grabbing them and feeding them to the chicks! Seems like a win win for me, no ants, chicks get snacks and friendly up to the kiddos!

Coffee grounds... Adds sustenance to you cup of joe! I get them when it's time to clean out the coffee maker. Do you have hard water? at my families ranch they go through a coffee pot every couple years bc of the hard water. Gotta love well water!!

It is great to have you here, learning about chickens and drinking coffee!

I live in Woodland California and last Sunday replaced the fill valve on one of the toilettes--It was about 5 years old and messed up by the minerals in the city water. Next year we will be switching over to mostly surface water so yippee! The hard water problem will be gone!
