Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Whew! Wish I could share some with you. Saturday we got 5 inches. I haven't checked the rain gauge this morning,, we got a ton last night too.

BTW: You can stop the broody dance now! Thanks for your help. I have 6 - 5 week olds, and at least 5 new chicks under a mama. Now, can you make my duck STOP trying to brood?
Is it my turn for a broody???
Please?

Hide and Seek is my favorite game. The only problem is that I am seeking stuff that I have hidden from me.

I hate it when that happens.

Hey has anyone heard from Alaskan lately I checked and the last time he was on line was two days ago.

I haven't seen anything from Mr. Big in a while either.
Although, I haven't been on consistently in a while, so I'm not sure how reliable my lack of information is......

When Michael was 2, I took him to IHOP we got pancakes, it comes w/ a scoop of butter on top. Before I realized what was happening he grabbed the butter, popped it into his mouth!!!!

I've done that too. =D

Anyone else on here like me and got waaaaaaay to carried away with buying chicks when just starting out?! Lol I have 24 chicks, and 9 eggs about to go on lockdown this weekend! Ohh and I don't have a coop built yet

I'm a bit nervous to say the least, but happy to get my chickens grown and get some eggs for our family of 6, and the neighbors

My DH was a great help in coop building last year and we have plans for at least one coop and a breeding pen this year. We've got 15 hens laying right now and we're getting right at what we use (we're a family of six as well). Well, that's a somewhat misleading statement. Let me rephrase that, I've come to realize in the last two years of feeding chickens and giving away "extra" eggs and then turning around and having to buy eggs, that it's best to keep in mind that there will be times of the year when the hens aren't laying as many eggs a week and that any of them that goes broody will not lay for at least a month. We started out with 11 pullets and now that we've got 15 laying hens, we're finally at a production level that can support DH having eggs for both b-fast and lunch, the kids and I have eggs for lunch about half the time, and we bake profusely, plus we're able to give a dozen eggs to family, friends, and neighbors here and there.
I need to get those hens brooding, so I can have more chicks.

Some one posted on Facebook, I thought it was so appropriate.

Especially this morning. Hard to maintain your sense of humor when you wake up to 29o and snow

Oh well, sorry folks, but I know it could be worse, I could live in Texas!!!

I agree on all counts.
I hope your weather warms up!!!

Well I only started with 4 chicks, I had them in a cardboard box, the house while they grew.
I was in a little trouble because spouse said ok to 2 & didn't know what was doing to be involved with raising chickens...
Btw welcome

I did the same thing...chicks in a box in the laundry room, but I somehow managed to get DH to buy my chickens for me.

And he's still doing it.

I'm too tired to read anymore.

I'm finally done with the term that almost killed me (a week ago). I got As in both my courses, so I guess it was worth the brain cells I lost.

I'm waiting for one of my chickens to go broody. I think I've been rather patient. I've been waiting for months. They started laying in Feb and were all laying by the end of March. So I've been waiting for all of April and now half of May. Okay, maybe I haven't been as patient as it feels like I have. But I've had at least three of them pretend/practice, but they were just tricking me! I'm trying to be patient, but it's hhhhhhaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrdddddddddddddddd.......

PS: Does anyone else get the impression that their hens have a copy of the Old Farmer's Almanac hidden in the coop somewhere?

I agree ocap.

My mom always says she's proud of her wrinkles, she says she's earned every one. :)

That's what my dad said about gray hairs.

Mark Twain once said (something like this) "I feel sorry for anyone who is not creative enough to spell a word more than 1 way."...
It has been my inspiration for years

I agree with him on that point! I spell lots of words lotz of different waysez. =D
Same with gray hair.... although I'm pretty sure many were foisted upon me by family and admin.

My dad said we (kids) gave him every one of his.

I think I just like to spend time with my husband, so I have never had the 'hubba hubba' thing for anyone... Is that too square?
I have never been a fan of anything more than a person's talents. or their character. I see differently.

Models would starve if the world were like me... oh, wait they are starving....they'd be poor and hungry, not just hungry.

I feel the same way, now that I'm married, but when I was five, I was going to marry Micheal Jackson, by the time I was fifteen I was going to marry Chris O'Donnel (sp), but I married DH and I'm happy and I don't even look around. So, no, I don't think that's too square. I think it's sweet! =)

Same here.
