I doubt it, if your DNR is like ours!.... About 30 years ago I had a farm with about 100 ewes on it. I started losing lambs to wolves. Wolves were protected at the time.

I called the DNR, they came out and looked at the tracks and said "nope, those are coyotes".. They had to pay for livestock killed by wolves at the time. The tracks were about 6-7 inches I covered them with a pie pan to save them for the DNR to see. My Hired hand, his grandson, my Wife and I all saw a wolf take a 30-35 pound wolf and jump a 5 ft tall fence without breaking stride.

When the DNR said it was a coyote, I said "Great, I am shooting and trapping it". They then said, "Becareful it could be a wolf and we will jail you if you kill a wolf"...

Some help!~

The best part is in November after Deer Season they found a dead wolf on my property and came to me to "help" they find out who killed it...They refused to give me livestock money even then, because there was no proof that wolf killed my lambs..

I lost about 150-170 lambs that year. It forced me to stop livestock farming and sell the land to people for homes. Yes, I am a tad bitter!

Just wow Ralphie. We have learned over here that our DNR (at least locally) do the best they can for us land owners within the constraints of the laws and rules they must operate within. Ours however have been known to "wink" and look the other way at times when some idiot at the capital supported by some city dwelling liberal -------s think it's a great idea without a clue what they are actually dealing with. Things are actually improving here on a state level. Our gov has already managed to walk back some really stupid shoreline rules that actually stopped people folks from building simple docks and boathouses on their properties. Our wetland rules had gotten TOTALLY out of hand. They actually managed to declare the flood plain in our back forty RECREATIONAL because you could get to it in winter on a snowmobile!!! Why? So they could tax it at a higher rate!!! Thankfully the new state congress was able to correct that stupidity. We still have the same problem here with the wolves tho. A dairy farmer to the south is in a fight right now over what killed his calves.

Yes, but you live on the sane side of the St.Croix river, I live on the insane side.......I am glad your's is getting better.

They declared our Garden a "flood Plain" And a spot in my pasture even though they are 29 ft higher than the city 10 miles downstream on the river from us! What that means is because I have a "flood Plain" I need "special" review before I can get building permits. Never mind that I live on sugar sand and it never holds water. And I mean NEVER!
