Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I agree! It's insane. This morning we are 5 degrees WARMER up here than Atlanta!

An entire state that doesn't know how to drive on greasy roads and no salt trucks?

NIGHTMARE!

Been there, seen that when my daughter lived in Atlanta.  Speaking of salting - my truck is so coated in salt that it could be used as a salt lick.  :th

I hear you on that. Went to the big town yesterday and it was finally warm enough for the carwash to open. Must have melted 10 pounds off just from the under carriage.

-good friend from the Lawrenceville, GA area was sharing about the conditions. -really, really dangerous around Atlanta. -hoping and praying for safety for all of those affected by this storm system.

If we had that down here. People would die. A lot of homes do not have more than a space heater. I lived in a house once that had not heat at all, no fire place or anything. We put in a wood stove and got snickered at until it hit 20 degrees. Then we weren't so foolish.

It did not have air conditioning either, It was built for natural convection and there was a constant breeze through the house. and lots of dust and dirt. But south Fla does not get as hot as north Fla.
Our nursery/agricultural industry would be finished also.

I sure hope our south eastern states warm up soon.Maybe Alaskan can send some warm weather now! Stay safe everyone!:old

Nope, I like my warmth. Mine, mine mine!

34 right now, and the sun doesn't rise for another half hour!

But seriously folks, be super careful! Driving on ice and snow without winter tires, studs, and all wheel drive is very tricky!

Right at the freezing mark here in Wilmington. If anything, a lot of the roads are worse today than they were yesterday. The main roads have been plowed, so with the pressure of traffic, at least some of the time you actually have your tires on pavement. The roads that haven't been plowed are solid ice. My Explorer and I went skating several times on our way over to feed the horses this morning (Ok, I'll admit it, most of them were "test slides"), and the growl of antilock brakes isn't a pretty sound! Since the sun isn't coming out to clear this mess out, I wouldn't be surprised if the kids get tomorrow off, too.

When my parents moved to FLA. the first thing my father did was to 'winterize' their home which included a heating unit. Neighbors also snickered, but soon changed their tune. The centralized heating was a plus for sure when it became time to sell their home.

Back in the 1970s they built a housing sub division that was supposed to use passive heating and cooling. Kind of stupid in a place that get to 110 degrees regularly. Most of those houses have been updated to central heat and air.

Hey-O, peeps.

So, I have some exciting news--again!

I have finally decided what I will do with my planned illustrated novel (Aka, comic book, aka graphic novel)! I decided to do it in traditional media, because I will admittedly say I stink at digital media. I do from time to time please myself with what I produce after hours' work, but usually it's junk. And this is the most important project I've ever done! Why not let it be my best? So I will be doing it in traditional media.

I am spitballing between black and white, or colored. I think colored will be better, as it just adds more to it.

Hannah that is awesome! G

Ok folks, How about a little "Muskrat Love?"

Saw this little guy make his way across the pond today.

He would go for a ways and then go under the snow, then back on top.

He made his way 100 + feet up to the magnolia and little frozen frog pond near our drive and about 30 feet from the house. I walked out to him and he didn't move a muscle. Until I kicked up a little snow at him! He waddled off 15 feet or so went under the snow. Back up,walked in a circle and then disappeared under the snow!
