Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I've been doing some research to improve my Chicken keeping skills
I found that there seems to be a controversy about weather or not to rinse a raw chicken.

Well I tried to rinse a raw chicken today and he did not like it much!

No worries though his attitude Greatly improved with a good Blow out with the hair dryer.
So I guess IMO when rinsing Raw Chickens make sure you have a blow dryer handy.

Looks like he is getting bathed in milk. Is that for his complexion?

No. Words.

I got to thinking about the RAW connection when I connected in my brain that I was soaking him in my small canning pot.

OOps

I'll blame that on tooo much coffee just grabbed what I knew would hold him.

I completely agree!

Adam & Eve were created as adults, so I'm pretty sure the animal kingdom began that way too.

I just had another thought. Technically, as every experienced hatcher knows, the egg couldn't have come first, because there was no mother hen to incubate said egg

. Why didn't I ever think about that before

LOL!

There you go; cunundrum (sp) solved!!! =D

Evening everyone
caf.gif

just gettting caught up and waiting for Amazing Race to come on. We actually had another nice day. We almost hit 50o so I took advantage to clean out the winter's worth of deep litter. (I only use that method in the winter). Took 4 wheel barrows full plus (there was a LOT of sand etc. under there!) but thanks to a floor covered with a nice heavy vinyl it wasn't too much of a chore to clean out. Cleaned the catch board under the roost and the nestboxes too of course. Everything got the DE and Sevin treatment, including the girls and Max. Nobody was too pleased with me interrupting their play time (trying to clean and re-hay a coop with this bunch was as bad as having a bunch of toddlers help!).
I know exactly what you mean.
lau.gif

It wasn't warm enough and way too damp with the melting snow to do a good Oxine scrub down, that will have to wait until we actually have spring but it will be easier with the deep litter already removed.

Great weather today but rain tomorrow then back to snow. The Blizzard hitting the northern plains is aimed at us too, of course, but that's spring in the northwoods and if the weatherman is right this time, we should be back above freezing by the weekend.
I don't like your weather!!! I'm staying here, it's flip flop weather (at least in the afternoons).

My show has come on, I've had a nice hot shower and a fresh pot of the black nector is calling to me so have a great evening everyone.
goodnight_.gif
Hope you enjoyed your show. =)

Coffee was okay this morning, but I'm the one who made it, so it wasn't spectacular. IDK why I can't get my own coffee sweet and cream right. Humph!
Oh, well!

Just got off the phone with a friend who lives in NE Pennsylvania - they got 11 + inches of snow yesterday.
ep.gif
Both I 80 and I 81 were shut down because of bad road conditions.

Isn't it March? No, wait, April? Didn't "Spring" start last month? Two weeks ago? There's no snow in Spring!!! I remember distinctly the story books from when I was a kid (the only place there was snow in my childhood) saying that it snows in Winter and not in Spring!!! What's wrong with the world that it doesn't operate according to my childhood story books??????

The forecast today is for rain later. Not a problem since we're only had about 1/4 inch all month of March and that's too dry. We need some warm and wet to get that deep frost out of the ground.

I'll take the warm, you can keep the wet!!!

I'm sure hoping we're done with that mess in VA! Time to get to planting the garden, soon as I can get in it without waders on! Lol

Bwahahaha!!!!!
gig.gif

I assume waders are the funny looking bright yellow, rubber suspender-pant/boot things that go up to your waste or chest, right?
If yes, then:

If no, then.... what are "waders"?

yeah, this weekend was not condusive to getting my spring on. but today is supposed to be lovely. unfortunately stuck in a big concrete and glass building looking at a computer screen. (but I have coffee!!!) might need to leave early today for some unspecified reason, though.
Yeah, tell them your having BYCW; just don't tell them that stands for Back Yard Chicken Withdrawal!!!

My weather is ranging from 36 F to 21F for the rest of the week. So, I guess that means it is spring.
hu.gif

I've lived in Miami; that's not spring!!!

ya.gif
It's spring!

The spring peepers are singing, and they can't be wrong - can they?

I've only seen one. They're the tiny frogs, right? Something makes noise every time it rains here, tree frogs, chickens, children, something.
idunno.gif

The peepers have been singing here since, like January. Talk about optimism! I just hope they are finally right.
fl.gif
That's amphibians for you....
If I can breath water and air, then I can decide when spring starts. LET'S START SINGING!!!

Good Heavens! Followed him to the beagle club, too? Talk about a stalker!

i have been tired lately (i was across the bay doing community service with the boy scouts) and that is a good enough excuse for not posting lately

ok

Ummmm, evening everyone.

manually manipulating large handled containers of solid organic waste from species homo sapian????? Think I need to back up a page or two to discover what I missed

Good Morning! Sunshine and a hot cup of coffee, little chicks, bigger chicks and chickens fed and eggs turned! Great day! Poor Chicken Scout!
I need you to teach my family that I should get to sit down after all that. That's when I start making b-fast and coffee for DH, then go for a walk w/ him, then watch our youngest, then turn the eggs again, then eat something for "lunch", then crochet while said youngest watches Little Einsteins, all the while trying to get the other children to do what they already know they're supposed to be doing, eventually it's time for our oldest to make snack for the kids and then all of them go outside. Then, about 3pm, I get to sit down and start doing my school work, and then I get on BYC...... sometimes I don't get to the BYC part of my day. =( But most days I do. =)
And, BTW, that is why I post six times in a row sometimes, b/c I've missed a day or something.

Morning!
I hear ya! Mini chicks, middle chicks, big chicks, and chickens. Oh my! Lol

Beware the April Fools pranksters.

No one does April Fools' pranks here. IDK why???
Maybe the kids do them to each other????

It's my son's favorite day. I am making sure there are no rubber bands around the spray nozzle of any faucets , or confetti on any ceiling fan blades. I hate this day. but he loves it, so I try to also. I did it myself. When he was a child we would prank his dad. We froze his tooth brush into and ice cube one year...yep. I taught the boy well and now I pay.

Isn't that always the way....we teach them and then they turn on us.
lol
