Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I think a good first step would be having a talk with the neighbors and letting them know that the roosters are going to go away at some point. You could also give them back the piece of glass that they "must have misplaced". In my opinion extreme politeness is always a good route to take, it really doesn't have to be sincere, or even seem sincere, but fighting fire with fire tends to lead to escalation in my experience.

If talking to them doesn't help, the net would probably be a good idea. I think some storing fishing net or something similar hung loosely would be the best, it would capture the objects softly. I wouldn't put up metal poultry netting, the glass might break against it (although it's unlikely), and fishing net would probably be cheaper.

Yesterday morning it was 78* this morning it is in the low 40's! Wow! All the animals are looking for somewhere to get out of the cold wind.

Yesterday morning I found the bottom of a glass bottle in one of my chickens feed dish and it was not there the day before! We have a family that lives back behind us with lots of kids of all ages. I am very upset! I cannot even count how many nights their dogs kept me awake barking all night! And they are going to throw glass at my chickens because the roosters crow? Now I admit I do have around 40 roosters because we did have some customers that would come buy them, but they must have moved or something because they stopped coming.
With it being college football season my DH does not want to go to the auction to sale them right now.

I just don't know what to do!

I was thinking of buying some poultry netting to put up around the back of my pens to stop anything from getting into my pens. Would this work? Does anyone know?

That is so sad!

Is there an animal auction to take the boys too? They must be costing you a fortune.

Thank you vehve very nice tactic. I like it, I will ask my DH to return it to them.
Quote: Yes there are livestock auctions that sale chickens as well as goats and other livestock. One up north of us and one west of us but they are both well over an hour from us and Sat. is football all day for the SEC and my hubby will not leave the t.v. area as long as there is football on.

The kicker is my new pens are the ones with my expensive birds in it and the one they are throwing glass at! GRRR!!!
So I guess I will go ahead and order some netting and hope it will work.
Thanks y'all!

I would not survive!!! Take that back. It's more like no one around me would survive. I must have at least three backup emergency methods to make my coffee.

@vehve - I know of grogg. We had a dear friend and neighbor down the road who was from Sweden. When the time came, I did the home hospice first for his sweet wife and then 2 years later for him. He had no family at all in this country so I was put in charge of his estate and laying him to rest. We buried him with a jar of his beloved grogg he had kept stashed in their root cellar. What a bittersweet memory on such a cold grey day, but it still made me smile.

Grogg is what pirates drink. Glögg is a Swedish (and Finnish) Christmas time favorite, a bit like the German glühwein or hot cider. You can get the non-alcoholic kind at Ikea around Christmas.

Here's what's in a Finnish non-alcoholic glögg:

You can drink it as is after heating it (it's actually pretty good cold too), or spruce it up with vodka, red wine or Glühwein.
