Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

WEATHER REPORT PLEASE!

We are waiting for the blast to roll this way but so far it is holding off.

Cherries aren't so bad.

Cherries on Cheesecake sound good to me.

(is there room for me under your chair?)

@3goodeggs I bet you're the kind of sick person who likes mushrooms too, aren't you?

I am.

Sure they might. But this is thread where we have Class.

Finicky Finish person.

Food is good.
Grilled Portabellos... yummers.
...and i think I feel the same way about those little cocktail wenners. They are 90% chemicals and 10% organs and glands.

They are a waste product passed off as food.
sickbyc.gif

That's how I feel about the cocktail wieners.

Ooh I love mushrooms! They add protien and flavor and pick up the flavor of the food you cook them with. Yum. But that does exclude "canned" mushrooms.

They get rubbery.
Yup, like butter!!!!!

Good morning, All. (long-time lurker, first-time poster)

Still nursing the cold that the grandkids shared. Seems like their sweet revenge for the grownups having looted their Halloween goodies IMHO. I had forgotten how germy and hands-on little kids are. Oh, well.... Strong coffee seems to be about the only thing cutting through the misery that is now my throat and sinuses.

In the Peets vs. Starbucks debate, I'm a Peets gal....but hard to come by out here in NM and waaaaay overpriced. Love a 3/4 Columbian 1/4 French or Italian roast blend. Which reminds me... Where did I put my coffee cup last? Guess I'd better retrace the morning's activities....

I don't have grandkids, but kids in general are so kind with all that germ sharing, aren't they???

"In the Peets vs. Starbucks debate," I just drink what DH buys. That's what I had to do yesterday to find DH's coffee. He's the coffee person and I'm the one who's always losing or looking for something, but I was hunting the entire house and part of the yard for his coffee cup yesterday and I don't lose my coffee!!!! Go figure!

Glad you posted!!!

We enjoy grilled portobellos as burgers stuffed with bacon and bleu cheese on ciabatta. Yummers!

Now, that's just teasing!!! I want one too now!

HI PEEPS!  found where we were hiding out in the morning???? ;)

Cherries! :drool   I love cherries!  Door County cherries are the best! Folks migrate from all over to Door County in late summer.
Ok, we love the big dark cherries from Washington too :)

And mushrooms?  just about everybody goes mushroom hunting up here.  Can't do a proper deer camp venison stew without them.

Somebody asked for a weather report;
20o F and dropping, fast.  20+ mph winds and gusting.  Still snowing heavy.  No clue how much since it started yesterday morning, but ALOT.  Hard to measure since the drifts keep moving.  Should stop by dark then the cold air moves in.  Highs are supposed to be in the single digits (F) by Thursday, not going to discuss the lows.
Reminds me, I better have Pa check the level in the propane tank.

Today's weather report from north central Florida is: Sunny with a high of 79 degrees
Light breeze with no rain or snow in the forecast.
Sorry but all people who live in Florida are required to rub it in when ever possible. LoL

It was sitting at the bathroom sink where I put it down on my way to the loo.

I used to lose my tea cup there, but the kids kept coming out of the bathroom with it, so....that cured me of taking it into the bathroom in the first place.

I think about the only thing I don't like to eat is peas! Everything else I like. I grew up eating what ever we killed and my parents who grew up during WW2 didn't waste anything. My dad and I had a favorite bed time snack .... Pickled pigs feet with a glass of butter milk.

I like peas fresh, but not canned. I have discovered a lot of things that I thought I didn't like as a kid, but found out that my family (dad, g-mother) were doing it wrong and I like them when DH and DDs make them.
Pickled pigs feet, I can't get into the idea of eating those; I don't like feet in the first place, they're for walking on and they're just plain dirty. Buttermilk, I could probably drink; I can drink Kefir straight (about 6 oz of it).
We grew up poor and ate what was put in front of us (whether my dad had killed it or not). We had to eat all of it before we got anything different, so (before poor folks had m'waves) we had whatever was left on our plates at the next meal until it was gone. I'll never forget the bowl of oatmeal (instant and made with water) that I saw for b-fast and dinner for two days (and I didn't like what they were serving for lunch those two days either), so I didn't eat much. I still have to make a conscious decision not to necessarily eat everything I'm served.

Sorry

It is interesting to me (after caring for the flock in 27F weather with strong wind) that I spend a lot more time trying to be comfortable with each passing year. When I was much younger the weather made no difference to me !!!!

Interesting "stupid virus" article:
http://www.msn.com/en-us/health/med...s-has-been-discovered/ar-AA7uBAt?ocid=DELLDHP

From the article:
“These are agents that we carry around for a long time and that may have subtle effects on our cognition and behavior,” Yolken told Healthline. "We're really just starting to find out what some of these agents that we're carrying around might actually do.”

I'm not sure I want to know....

My Youngest asked me to make Mushroom soup for dinner. She also likes fried portobello mushrooms. No bun or bacon needed!

My oldest has a recipe for Mushroom soup on a soup mug. My mom had it sitting on her dresser. I think I might be able to get her to make it for me one day.

I read an article about a virus making us fat too!

I am doubly covered now!

You changed your avi.
It's a good look for you.

O.K. I'll join.

Glad to have you back!!!

sure dont you??? LOL. I have four shots of espresso in the morning for breakfast... so not really...

I get my coffee at about ten am .... four shots in a sixteen ounce cup then three sweet N Lows then fill it up to the top with half and half. I sip on it all day. Sometimes like today I wind up taking my last sip after dinner.

I dont make coffee any more after discovering espresso. Because I was drinking two to three pots a day... So now I just have it the way I want it just once.... Keeps the headaches away... and keeps me from feeling like someone kicked me in the gut...

So in the mornings thats when i talk coffee.... mostly...

deb

I have about 12 oz of French press coffee with 2 teaspoons (down from about a quarter of a cup) of sugar and about 2 Tablespoons of half and half, then I nurse that 'til it's gone and start on tea (black of it's before 3pm, green if it's after 3pm, and Chamomile or decaf if it's after dinner).
And, as far as what to eat with coffee, I prefer baked goods, but almost anything. The more savory or spicy that a food is, the more sugar my coffee wants to be drunk with it.

DH is talking about getting an espresso machine. We'll see.
