Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

, Sorry, got a late start, fingers would not work until I got half way into my first cup.

Please share your crazy chicken terms or made-up words you use because you are a crazy chicken person..... Also include the definitions. Thanks, this should be fun and interesting...
BYC apparently has some words that long time poultry people find odd:

BA for Black Australorp. Apparently they are just Australorps or Aussies
Bator for Incubator
Lockdown--When the incubator is set up for hatching. It is just the last three days of incubation

Rooster is K or a Cock Bird

Those with great powers have great responsibility. Be nice.  Poor Alaskan will need more voles. How many voles does it take to heat a house anyway? Think of all that vole pee.

Yes, and yes........the vole leavings are quite large......

Besides the gross factor, which we try to ignore.....they do definitely increase the overall warmth.

Actually, we have had wood heat now for a few days, and I still haven't seen a giant incoming hoard. We did get a few, but my sons caught them and tossed them outside. It is very odd.....must be the quiet before the storm.

Chickisoup, I LOVE your posts! They keep reminding me how very lucky I am this year. We have had a few cold days, but my pond unfroze yesterday...back to frozen today.

-hilight of my fall last year: photographing a lovely ptarmigan up on a trail in the Rockies!
That's a good picture and I am sure I would enjoy a trail in the Rockies. A few years ago I was camping in the Appalachians in North Georgia and there was a flock of Sharptailed Grouse just foraging in the woods. I was amazed.

-bet that was really beautiful! Nature never disappoints.
...now, with coffee in hand, I'm looking (out the window) toward the coop and thinkin' it is about time to go put out the chickens' feed and fresh water.

OK, so I am fascinated by this Vole power.... I chuckle everytime I think of it. It seems we are comparing Sunrise pictures the last couple days, so here is mine from this fall. BAMMM!
Awesome picture! Great purples! I set up little treadmills for the voles under all of the furniture. That way, the heat they generate is right were we sit. Very useful. :D It had been right at freezing for a few days this past week, but during the week I didn't have time to work on finishing the duck coop. Today I have time to work on the duck coop...and today it is cold, in the teens. I am hoping copious coffee, and a bit more sun will warm it up enough outside so that I can work without getting my fingers numb. I have to work on the coop without gloves...can't figure out how to use power tools safely with gloves on.

-now there's a beautiful sunrise!

(We're in a "small suburb" with a population of 20,000. I refuse to venture into the "big city".)
.......and, the home-brewed peppermint coffee is currently in hand
