Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

It's 72 here with a predicted high of 79 but it is still raining just like it has been since April. The drought is officially over. The lakes, rivers creeks and yards are full around Middle Georgia. We have a team going to Little Rock next week it looks pretty rough there. The high for the week is predicted to be 38 with wintery mix falling this weekend. I have been there in that. I am glad that I am not going. That is not good weather even working inside an airplane.

We have bald eagles here too and even a golden was sighted this summer. Balds nest on the lake near us every spring and hunt our field all summer but they have never been a problem for either our birds or our neighbors. We have more of a problem with the hawks but our (and our neighbors) real problem is more the four footed kind. The coyote and wolf can be heard and occasionally appear at the edge of our field, along with the occasional cougar but our troubles mostly come from Fox and coon. My girls are never outside the fences so my neighbor's free rangers make much easier meals. We have been able to trap any interlopers so far before any losses. Our worst winter "visitors" (other than the already mentioned) are the ermine and bobcat. Oh, and our biggest and worst pest in very early spring, the bears

We have never suffered the horror Alaskan did at the jaws of a dog because it is understood by one and all around here that a loose dog off his own property is a dead dog, and the law backs it up. (I could have shot some idiot's bear dog last summer I caught snooping around my run but I just grabbed it by the collar and threw it in my garage and waited. Since it was wearing a radio collar I knew someone would show up eventually. That was one apologetic hunter by the time I was through chewing on his ear :lau )

Its been down to -6 + wind = Cooooold

Hot mochas??? Elaborate!!!

me wanna know too!

and chickisoup, the rest of your story was entertaining...but ear chewing? Really? At first I thought that you had been chewing on the dog's ear. Now that would be very hairy as well as nasty. Maybe the man who stopped by had a clean non-hairy ear?

Whichever way it was, the hot mocha sounds like the best choice for eating!

Good morning all!

Hope everyone is safe and sound down south. Wow, what a horrible ice storm! Just "crispy" up here. Had to wait till the temp got up to a tolerable -12 before I took the girls out some warm oatmeal. Even with the heater in there I knew their water was probably froze. It was. Since it is supposed to be colder tonight I guess I better drag out the waterer with the thermostatic controlled heater in it. I just hate the thing because it is so awkward to fill.

Now I am just sitting here warming my toes drinking coffee and WAITING FOR THE MOCHA RECIPE hint, hint.
