Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Good morning from down south! Icy out there this Saturday morning. Good coffee makes it all good. -chickens are happy gals. -took 'em some kale and malt-o-meal. -had already devoured their fresh morning mash. -a good weekend to all!

A frozen rain forest greeting to all. I would wave hello but am holding hot coffee mug in both hands.
Jumped out of bed and got dressed warm to run some water out to the chickens.
Their bucket inside the coop was frozen solid, but my BIL had already been out to take care of the horses and had brought the girls some water from the barn. He had poured it into their outdoor rubber water dish and when I showed up with more water 3 of the girls were standing in the water dish up to their knees. STUPID CHICKENS. Actually I guess the water felt warmer than the air.
It was -17 celsius here with the wind chill factor. We are totally not used to cold here, but the blue skies and white lawn are pretty (from indoors).NEED MORE COFFEE NOW.

Warm water freezes faster than cold water. Likely makes no difference where you are....

It doesn't take them long to figure out where the sunny sheltered spots are located.

Those chickens have every bit of these 3+ acres logged into their internal GPS (good poultry spots).
Up against the south wall of BIL's log house is a favorite. Even a bit of green grass for grazing there.
