Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Evening all :caf
Had a break in the snow so we decided to make a run to town. Actually wasn't too bad. Of course it was extremely busy but we are a far cry from a city like Chicago. Not only is "town" hardly the size of one of their suburbs, people up here still know how to be polite and considerate to one another.

Of course we bought such big city things like a bale of pine shavings for the catch board in the coop and a couple quarts of oil for the tractor. Oh, and lighter fluid to help kick off the Christmas eve bonfire. A few staples and a stop at the butchers to get hubbys package of fresh polish sausage (totally different from that stuff you get at the grocery store) for Christmas morning, one more quick stop for a pumpkin cappuccino and back to the peace and quiet of home!

Now we are settled in all comfy and watching the temperature drop again. It's already -8 and only a little after 8pm. No more snow till tomorrow night but the bitter cold will definitely mean a lock down day for the girls. Hope the snow holds off long enough to let us go to church Christmas eve.

I almost feel guilty. It is really moderate here. 70 yesterday

, 60 and rainy today. Damp and in the 30's tomorrow. The snow is all gone and none in the near future - perhaps insignificant flurries tomorrow night.

-miss having a local butcher. -used to always accompany my grandmother to the butcher's. -always bought a fresh ham and a fresh hen for Christmas dinner. The meats ARE so different from what the grocery store has to offer. -recall the first time that I ever ordered a fresh ham from a butcher shop. My husband and kids looked at it like it was from outer space. -asked me why it wasn't pink, and why I was pressing it in a pot on top of the stove. LOL! (needless to say, they loved it!)

-anyway, I hope that your weather cooperates so that you may attend your Christmas Eve service. Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

....now, I reckon the hubby and I will enjoy a nice cup of caramel coffee. -looking forward to the arrival of family tomorrow.

Oops, and YES! Merry Christmas to all!

Tomorrow is all sorts of Christmas church, morning and evening, and then Wednesday is "the great welcome back the meats!" family stuff( no meat, etc. all of advent) and then Thursday is another church service.

But.....we are no longer in that horrid kind of warm ice fest, we have great snow, and I haven't had to do anymore plowing, so YEAH!

So everyone stay safe and warm (or, uh, cool, depending on where you are located), but may you all be free of ice!
