I AM SO HAPPY IT'S FEBRUARY! At 10 am the sun is high in the sky instead of hiding behind the southern treetops

Still around zero for outside temp but almost 40o in the greenhouse. I have some very happy chooks!
Just sitting at my kitchen table staring at the snow but soaking in the sunshine and dreaming of spring.

Oh crap, my computer just popped up a weather alert message. I hate reality.

....18 degrees and snow! Café mocha is good right about now. -chickens are eating warm mash in their coop (complete with two heat lamps). -water is a challenge to keep in liquid form out there...

today we are supposed to have a high of 31, going down to 21 by Sunday.

Nah, 31 is considered warm for this time of year.

21 to 10 is typical for right now. So maybe we are getting back to proper winter temps.

Morning all
A cozy -17F here this morning. Twentieth night in a row below zero with no chance of better for he next week, sigh. We could really use some of the snow you folks to the south have been getting. Every town up here within a two hours drive big enough to have a public water system has asked folks to leave a faucet on because so many lines are freezing. We have been piling snow since December up against the house, well and over the septic field to keep things from freezing here. Even letting it pile up.against the north side of coop for the girls

A prayer for all of you dealing with the ice and snow storms. Hope your power holds!
