Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Can I just tell you all today was a beautiful day!? :) Coffee with the flock starting about 630 (Igor was a slacker and didn't start his crowing until after 530), a little bit of weeding in the garden, got my first ripe tomato and found several baby squash. After that it was shopping and lunch with my mom and the icing on the day was watching my 20 year old daughter sign a one year lease for an apartment! Know what that means!!! I get my spare room and garage back!!! :weee I love the girl but after two years away, she brought home A LOT of stuff!! Here's hoping tomorrow is just as wonderful!
so I'm new and been reading over this thread....I was wondering if I was the only one WO had their coffee with the chickens. My Dom starts in about 4:45 t 5:00 every morning. Gets me up to start the coffee and then I take it out with the treats and that's about the only quiet hour I get. 3 of the four grown kids are back. I can't wait till they get apartments.

Hi, kbarnes, I love my children dearly, but would never want to see them move back home.

I love my kids but yesterday my almost 16 year old son was so mmody I wanted to pinch his head off. I thought girls were supposed to be the moody ones?
Ooh!

First - WELCOME to the thread

Second - oooh, spare bedroom equals place to hatch and brood chicks! :drool (me, I hatch and brood in the kids still used toy-room :lau )

Third - did you give the weeds to the chickens? Yummy for them!

General comment:

Here is my flower garden, the one by the front door, in all its glory. The lawn has not been mowed a single time this year, (didn't mow it last year either, but last year I had geese). Anyway, I know it looks a bit girly, but I like it. :D

The something in the background is a dog house that the kids built... The dog has never gone inside.

Love the flowers! Is the fireweed blooming?

Welcome. Yes, lots of folks enjoy their coffee with chicken tv. Currently I am sitting by my koi pond, with a cat in my lap and a sleeping family inside. I already said my good morning to the chicks.

NEWS: got 85 eggs in the bators! Ooooh I hate waiting!:barnie

I need a long sleeved shirt below 80.
at 72, a sweater, maybe a jacket...at  20... everyone else needs ear plugs because I am complaining so much.

I am enjoying the summer. The temperature is only in the upper 80's and lower 90's with ample rain. I freeze with the AC below 74.

three in one session is a good enough processing day for me, planning on three more early tomorrow but not before two cups of the brew.

one of my two silkie hens hatched three brahma large fowl last Saturday, now I can see how long it takes for the babies to gather under her wings and pick her up.

planning on expanding the cages, probably add 240 square feet, now how do I construct a cage that can withstand mountain lions, a pair were spotted five miles from our home, maybe the big cats will be content with road kill.

Three is the most I've done. I have to get b-fast for me and DH (minion #2 gets b-fast for the kids), then I have to get the laundry squared away (which usually means washing and hanging three loads, that's all our lines will hold), then if we have to take off trash chicken processing has to wait until we get back from that....then, just as it's getting good and hot outside, I get to stand in the shade of the trees by "the big, big hole" and process chickens while stomping the mosquitoes and yellow flies off my legs and shaking my ponytail at the ones flying around my face (holding my knife carefully away from everything when I do that....) It's great!

LOL on the Brahma chicks picking up their surrogate Silkie mom!!!

I have a coop that I have to deconstruct and then two coops to build and I've got to build a run for the Cochin Bantams b/c the dogs think they run yummy...

I can't imagine trying to keep mountain lions out!!! Five miles is too close for comfort!!!

More later, sorry I didn't get this up last night.

Ditto with Alaskan @TeaChick .

If you still have fireweed you don't have snow!

I loved to watch it work it's way up anticipating snowfall.

Wow. Everyone must have been busy outside yesterday, quiet around here.

My hubby and son left this morning taking one of my sons friends to our lake house for a week or so. This afternoon my daughter is goung to Grandma and Grandpas for a week. If I just didn't have to go to work, I could get soooooo much done!

Need more coffee!;);)

I was busy yesterday but still had coffee!

I processed a couple of cockerels along with the normal Saturday chores. I also had 12 silkies hatch out. It was a test hatch for a person to see if they hatched better here.

They did very well. 12 out of 13 hatched that went to lockdown.
