Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

And now for something completely different!
Sitting here having my coffee watching an ant.
We all know that ants are amazing creatures.
Recently I picked up a stick and had a painful encounter with some fire ants still have some welts on my hand and arm to remember them by nasty little buggers.
As I watch this ant something occurred to me that I had never thought of before.
For some of us who had ant farms when we were kids we remember watching them as they dug their little tunnels.
What occurred to me was that ants live most of their lives underground in the dark!
Unless they are carrying little torches which I've never seen them do.
All that work is done in the dark amazing and I'm thinking that it's possible the queen never sees daylight.
Now back to my coffee. LoL
I say torch them. I should not be so hard on them. They are no where near as bad as when I was a kid, and the USDA gave away bags (feed bad size) of Amdro to property owners to try and control them. It was broad cast with a fertilizer spreader. The mounds would form around the bases of pine trees four feet wide and three feet high.
And of course, as a kid it was high entertainment to slam pine cones into the mound and watch them swarm... and then we'd run.)

Fire ant sting//bites are horrible. I hope you feel better. It is nice of you not to hold it against them.

It's going alright. I've got Mickey Mouse courses this semester; done with 2, I think I got As; 2 more to go, no reason to think I'll get anything but As in those. In spring, I have to start taking degree specific courses, Psych and Crisis Counseling.

Thanks. It's going great so far. Finishing up with securing a coop and taking it easy.

Kinda late on Monday but my friend sent me this and I wanted to share. Couldn't remember if it was shown here before or not.

Yes, yes! This was my Monday!!

Happy start of the week to all.

I admire the infrastructure that ants build. Vast networks of roads. Skyscrapers. Garbage collecting. Farming. Division of labor and specializatin. Fascinating animals.

Don't like them inside though. Supposedly aspartame kills them pretty well.

Maybe not evil exactly, but just a little bit no good.

I wish I had super powers.

...or at least be able to find my glasses.

I agree.

Thank you. I and very excited.

We burn off our pasture here of all the leaves every spring so the new grass can grow.
We just have to keep it contained so it does not get out of our pasture.

What is RJF?

We went to town yesterday to get some dinner and some milk when we got home the rain had already started. One of my standard bronze turkey was out of it's pen pacing back and forth trying to get back in! Lightening must have scared it to fly up but the pens have welded wire on them! Over the top of the gate between the top we had to make a flap of wire to cover the open space, is likely how the bronze got out. We had some pretty bad weather go through last night and I am waiting for daylight to see if all my birds are in the pens.

that they're all safe!!!

I vote sleep......
No, more coffee! Definitely, more coffee!!!
Who needs sleep when you've got more coffee???????
(Rachel is a beautiful CBF, isn't she?)

Thank you. Me too.

I went to Urgent Care this afternoon and asked for a steroid shot to help with the pain and they gave me one with a shot for pain and swelling then the flu and a pneumonia shot.
I am drunk from the pain shot but still waiting for the meds to work. I have been there before and they told me they will give me shots till I can get in to see the RA Dr. YEA!!!

@chickadoodles hope the meds kick in soon, especially the anti-inflamatory part.

I was thinking about you last night, as I pinned my bad hand under my thigh. I like pinning my hand flat under my thigh, but under my pillow works too. It keeps it from curling and twisting up while I sleep, it makes it feel better in the morning.

When eating quail eggs tonight, TWO that we cracked open were double yolkers.

Thanks Alaskan. I do feel better this morning the pain is gone but still swollen as I cannot close my hand. But I will try pinning my had down somehow ant see if that will help some more. Thanks

Wow a double yolker quail eggs! They are so little that must be a tough job. lol

We have two hens that lay double yolkers regularly one egg is a jumbo brown egg I think a Buff Orp lays it, and a Easter Egger lays a jumbo green double yolker. We love the double yolkers.
