Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Big mike,
No. I know my termites.I grew up in these here parts. These are micro small.
I think they call them ghost ants.
Humm, no I looked them up, they do not have the dark head.
The are small. and annoying.

Ghost ants? What next? The Sqwaking Dead? Spirit Spiders? So is my girlfriend. LoL
We have some micro ants too we call them sugar ants because that's what they seem to go for.

@teachick I am jealous of your egg basket! My basket is a boring mix of light and darker brown eggs and the white eggs from the ducks. :/

OK, I tried to take a picture of the eggs I got today...I DO have three Marans, but they clearly didn't feel like contributing today.

Edited to add, I did get lots more eggs than that...but I was trying to take an 'artistic' picture.....I think tomorrow I will take a shot of a full basket.

Do the quail eggs taste different the chicken eggs? I think my duck eggs taste different but my DW doesn't think so

yes, they do. I actually like them better as fried eggs. But maybe it is just how with each egg you get a perfect bite of yolk and white. I really like that.

Your wife is silly, duck eggs are much different than chicken eggs, or quail eggs. Duck eggs have a completely different texture from chicken eggs when fried.

We actually did a taste test, made 2 boxed mix brownies one with duck eggs and one with chicken eggs. The brownies tasted much different. Of the 6 or so people who tried them, one person liked the chicken egg brownies better, the rest voted for duck egg brownies.

It was interesting, the texture was different, the moisture was different (and it wasn't the size of the eggs, I picked same size eggs). A great experiment.

Maybe I should do that again....I would like to do three, one duck, one chicken, and one quail... but that will have to wait until spring since my ducks are finished for the year.

Wow what is the converstion of Quail egg to Chicken egg for recipes...?? I know when I had boat loads of Bantam eggs... I figured Quiche was the way to go.... Since it takes 1.5 bantam eggs to make one chicken egg.... Six eggs for a Quiche turned into nine.... I made four quiches

Aside from size the ratio of yolk to white makes a big difference. When I had Guinea eggs they were a bit larger than a Bantam egg yet they had a yolk almost the size of a chicken egg. Higher protien.... Make awesome deviled eggs....

duck eggs I hear have a "sturdier" white so they whip up better and make better texture for pastry.

So I guess the best way to do it would be measure the volume of a chicken egg then crack enough quail eggs to equal the same volume? Tripple that if the recipe takes three eggs.

Wow found the answer right here on BYC...

5-6 quail eggs = 1 chicken egg.... give or take.

let us know how they taste.
