That's right and Love Bugs cover the fronts of cars in pairs during mating season. i won't even get into that. Most of you probably never witnessed the mating of the Love Bugs. I am pretty that it doesn't occur in California.

It kind of feels like it. My hubby has decided she thinks he is her "drake". She has been following him around the pasture the last couple of days and he said she squatted for him too. I assume (as with chickens) that we can expect some eggs from her soon.

Anyone else in the south making some extra precautions for the polar plunge coming? (We need a shivering icon.)

It is supposed to get down to 18 tonight and the low 20s tomorrow night. I have my outside water system so that I can shut it off and open a couple of faucets on the low end and let the whole thing drain so I will do that tonight and make sure everyone is cozy.

Have to let you guys know my first cup of coffee in the morning for the past year has been learning all I can right here. Right now taking a quick break and just about to finish cup number 3, and hopefully it will reach 20 degrees before I have to go out and do some errands.

Good Morning All! Hope you're all making it through this crazy weather okay. Here in VA the temps are dropping from 30's this morning to 10 tonight with negative windchills. I've got to migrate!!! Lol

Here in San Diego we have been going down to the forties at night... Thats very cold for here. Yesterday in the day it got to the high eighties low nineties during the day... Its that huge temperature swing thats a big killer.

Normally this time of year we hover at around fifty at night and seventy during the day....

Thereare many of us who dont have jackets at all but wear layer upon layer because of the vast swing in temperature...

I hatched a Splash australorp for the New Years Day hatch a long.

Sure is cute!


The chick on the far right. I also have Blue and Black Australorps. The others are Trader Joes chicks and may be California Whites.

Is there such thing as a clean legged frizzled breed? I know the cochins and polish can be frizzled but for some reason I just noticed a frizzled chick in my brooder. It has no crest or feathered legs. What other breeds can be frizzled? Or can all breeds be frizzled and not a few select ones?
