Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

my wife and I like stabilicers for ice, they strap on the bottom of your boot of choice

never heard them called that before. Up here they are known as "crampons" no idea why, but yes, they are a definite winter "accessory".

As strong as mine is this morning I won't need more than 2 cups!

I also TOTALLY agree on the why do warm boots have to be ugly thing!!! I have been scouring the internet trying to find a decent and warm pair of new "going to town" boots. They can be totally butt ugly if I only wear them around the place, to the feedmill, etc. but it's almost just as cold walking around town up here and I hate "stomping" thru Walmart

I also vote for Sorels for their durability.

We have half a day before the winter storm warnings start to take effect. Rain for the p.m., but snow tonight and through tomorrow. One more cup of coffee before I gird my loins and go for a little more yard cleanup. Then it's typical Monday fare of chore day, store day.

Stay warm and have a good one!

On the boots, just be careful that you have good traction. I have neoprene boots that I love. It's not that cold here for too long (although I complain terribly if is below 32) but....I busted my butt walking down the wet deck ramp two weeks ago and still paying for it. Lol. Have trouble sitting on the floor or carrying the 5 G. water bucket. Lol

I call crampon mountain climbing spikes that strap on, easier to sprain an ankle than the ones I use. Crampons also have two spikes that extend forward. My wife and I were able to hike at a speed of two miles per hour on a ice covered trail in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Wow, we were only about 18 yesterday morning in Macon and I think you are south? But my water fount even with a 60 watt bulb to warm was frozen solid. So, last night took off the terra-cotta pot sitter below the fount and this am with temp about 20, it did not freeze…but the hens turned it over and all the water ran out…

. Guess we are gonna have to have a coop meeting and set some rules very soon..

The only problem with that is that no sooner than you lay down the rules to chickens they start showing you how many ways they can break them.
